    The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineer independently contributes to the design, development, and testing of mechanical and aerospace systems for DoD and industrial applications. This role focuses on applying advanced engineering principles to create innovative solutions that meet performance, safety, and project-specific requirements. Engineers at this level collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and take ownership of assigned projects while ensuring compliance with DoD standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Development
  • Independently design and develop mechanical and aerospace systems, components, and processes for diverse applications, including ground vehicles, aircraft, and advanced materials.
  • Create complex CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings using software such as Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with GD&T standards.
  • Perform advanced calculations and analyses, including material selection, tolerance stack-ups, and stress analysis, to support design activities.
• Prototyping and Testing
  • Lead prototype manufacturing efforts, including planning, documentation, and coordination with shop technicians and external vendors.
  • Develop and execute testing procedures to validate designs, ensuring compliance with performance expectations and safety regulations.
  • Analyze test results and recommend design modifications or improvements based on findings.
• Project Management and Collaboration
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, technicians, and subcontractors, to execute project deliverables.
  • Manage assigned tasks, including scheduling, estimating costs, and tracking progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Communicate technical findings and project updates effectively to clients, team members, and supervisors.
• Compliance and Quality Assurance
  • Ensure designs and processes comply with DoD standards, safety regulations, and project-specific requirements.
  • Implement quality assurance practices to maintain consistency and reliability in deliverables.

Manager Defined Field:

• Industry experience with Abaqus CAE or Ansys
• Design experience with mechanical or electro-mechanical systems

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Systems, or Materials Engineering.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD, with experience creating complex parametric models and assemblies.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, including GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as ANSYS or ABAQUS.
• Experience in the defense industry or government contracting.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings to diverse audiences.
