Role Overview

The Quality Technician performs laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process intermediates, and finished products to support product quality and manufacturing operations. This role conducts chemical, physical, electrical, rheological, and thermal testing while ensuring accurate documentation and communication of results. The position also supports incoming material inspection, laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration, and technical activities for quality improvement, process engineering, and R&D. Success in this role requires technical aptitude, attention to detail, accuracy, and consistent adherence to established testing procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quality control testing on raw materials, in-process intermediates, and finished products, including preliminary and multi-step chemical, rheological, physical, electrical, and thermal testing.
• Conduct incoming material inspections and execute testing using established laboratory methods, procedures, and instrumentation to evaluate product and material quality.
• Document, communicate, and enter test results and non-conformances accurately in quality systems to support quality records and Certificates of Analysis.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, support 5S and laboratory organization, and follow established testing and laboratory procedures.
• Support quality improvement projects, technical services, process engineering, and R&D initiatives, and assist with onboarding and training of laboratory personnel as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED with exposure to algebra and chemistry.
• Laboratory testing experience or coursework in physical sciences.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow SOPs, testing methods, and established laboratory protocols accurately.
• Ability to perform percentage calculations and basic mathematical functions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and testing procedures, particularly viscosity, solids, and fineness-of-grind testing.
• Experience with ovens, belt furnaces, and other process laboratory equipment.
• Exposure to dimensional measurement equipment such as CMM or Micro-Vu.
