The Position

Job Summary

Operative - Refining 

Job Title: Operative 

Contract Type: Permanent

Status: Full time (38.5 hours per week, 74 shift pattern 12 hour days and nights)

Annual Salary: £25,445.42 plus £6,461.65 shift allowance

Site: Melbur

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operative to join our Refining team at Melbur. In this hands-on role, you will play a key part in producing high-quality kaolin slurry, ensuring products are safely and efficiently processed to meet production targets. Working within a 24/7 operation, you'll combine process control, plant operation, and problem-solving skills to help keep our site running smoothly.

Summary of the role:

• Following all Environmental, Safety, Health, and Quality (ESHQ) requirements.
• Operating and controlling refining processes in line with site procedures.
• Monitoring plant performance and recording process conditions.
• Carrying out on-site inspections, checks, and process adjustments.
• Ensuring product quality and production targets are achieved.
• Operating fixed plant, tools, and instrumentation safely.
• Reporting hazards, incidents, near misses, and process deviations.
• Maintaining high housekeeping standards across the site.
• Supporting continuous improvement activities and team communication routines.

• Good communication skills.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Organised and methodical approach to work, with good attention to detail.
• Physically fit and comfortable working in an industrial environment.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Safety-focused with a commitment to maintaining high ESHQ standards.
• Confident using computers and willing to learn new systems and technologies.
• Full driving licence.
• Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing, quarrying, or production environment is desirable.
• Experience working to targets and KPIs would be advantageous.

No prior experience with all equipment is required, as comprehensive training will be provided. You will receive training and support to develop your skills in:

• Fixed plant operations
• Hand tools and equipment
• Process instrumentation
• SCADA process control systems
• Google Workspace (GSuite)
