About URBAN TXT
URBAN TXT: Teens Exploring Technology is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization focused on inspiring young men of color to become confident leaders who use technology as a tool to improve their communities. Our interdisciplinary programs develop leadership, entrepreneurship, design, and coding skills among underrepresented youth.
Position Summary
The Youth Engagement and Programs Associate works directly with young people participating in URBAN TXT programs and services. This role focuses on building strong relationships with youth, creating meaningful program experiences, supporting student recruitment and outreach, and helping TXT continuously improve the way its youth programs and workshops are delivered.
The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with young people, can confidently lead activities and presentations, and is organized, proactive, and committed to creating high-quality experiences for TXT students.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Engage and build strong relationships with youth through TXT programs and services.
- Plan and lead youth activities, workshops, and events.
- Support student recruitment and outreach efforts, including presentations at schools.
- Help develop and improve the processes, systems, and practices behind TXT youth programs and workshops.
Desired Qualifications
- Interest or experience working with middle school or high school youth.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Passion for learning about new technologies.
- Comfortable facilitating activities, workshops, and presentations.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Creative problem solver who is willing to identify ways to improve programs and processes.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial nonprofit environment.
- Strong commitment to URBAN TXT's mission and the young people and communities TXT serves.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- Must successfully complete a background check.
- Must be willing to work occasional evenings and Saturdays based on program and event needs.
- This is a part-time contract position with possibility of ongoing role depending on funding.
