Lead Software Engineer

About the Role

Evolent is looking for aLead Software Engineer to be a key contributor in building scalable, secure, and high-performance healthcare applications. This role requires strong technical expertise along with the ability to lead design and development efforts, mentor team members, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications usingASP.NET MVC, Web forms, .NET Core, C#, and SQL Server
• Leadend-to-end software development lifecycle (SDLC) including design, development, testing, and production support
• Architect scalable and secure solutions by applyingdesign patterns and principles
• Providetechnical leadership to the team, conduct design/code reviews, and ensure adherence to coding standards
• Collaborate withproduct owners, QA, and other stakeholders to design and deliver high-quality features
• Driveperformance optimization, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
• Contribute tomodernization initiatives including migration to cloud-native or microservices-based architectures
• Identify and recommendnew technologies and tools to improve system performance, scalability, and developer productivity
• Participate in deployment, release management, and production stability improvements
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a strong engineering culture

Required Qualifications

• 6–8 years of experience in software development
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • ASP.NET / .NET Core
  • C#
  • SQL Server
  • Azure resources (functions, storage, keyvalut, App Config, App insights)
• Solid understanding of:
  • Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • Design patterns & Principles (SOLID, etc.)
  • Software engineering best practices
• Experience in buildingscalable web applications and APIs
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment
• Experience withcode reviews, CI/CD, and version control systems (Git)

Good to Have

• Experience inapplication modernization / legacy transformation
• Exposure tomicroservices architecture, cloud (Azure), or distributed systems
• Knowledge ofhealthcare domain / EMR / payer systems
• Experience withperformance tuning and security practices

Soft Skills

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to lead technical discussions and influence decisions
• Proactive mindset with focus on ownership and delivery excellence
