Senior Partner Solution Architect

About the role

The PSE team's mission is to raise the technical ceiling of what Shopify's partner network is capable of building — by working hands-on with agency partners as dedicated technical strategists, bridging the field and Shopify's product teams, and scaling expertise across the ecosystem through education and community.

As a PSE, you work directly with our highest-potential agency and technology partners, giving them the technical depth, platform knowledge, and architectural thinking to deliver complex, high-stakes implementations at the highest level. This isn't a support role. You think in systems, work cross-functionally, and translate technical complexity into clear, actionable direction.

You'll get to do things like:

• Act as a technical Shopify expert for partners implementing the platform or integrating Shopify into an existing commerce technology stack

• Deliver tailored technical training, onboarding, and consultations to selected partners

• Run scalable programs (office hours, webinars, lunch and learns) that elevate technical knowledge across the broader partner network

• Synthesize partner feedback and surface recurring technical pain points to Shopify's product and R&D teams — you're the voice of the partner ecosystem internally

• Develop and maintain enablement resources: technical guides, best practices, and implementation playbooks

• Speak at and attend events to represent Shopify to current and prospective partners

• Mentor and coach other partner-facing teams at Shopify on technical aspects of the platform

• Align with product and R&D on Shopify's roadmap and share partner feedback on released features

Qualifications

• Experience in ecommerce, digital agencies, solutions engineering, implementation consulting, or a similar technical pre/post-sales role

• Experience in the enterprise space where governance, stakeholder management, and change management matter as much as the technical build

• Deep and wide expertise of the Shopify platform and its application ecosystem and integrations

• Strong API knowledge (REST and GraphQL) for enterprise integrations

• Experience working with highly technical and executive-level audiences and managing cross-functional stakeholders

• Ability to gather, infer, and interpret complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions

• Solid understanding of cloud-based technologies and SaaS fundamentals

• Strong communication skills — you can explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Reflexive AI usage — you already use AI daily as a thought partner, researcher, and productivity multiplier, and you're always learning to use it better

• Comfortable with ambiguity and able to prioritize competing demands without losing quality

• A great video presence with confidence operating at an executive level

• Up to 25% travel annually may be required for this role.

Bonus experience

On top of the core qualifications, these would make you an even stronger fit:

• Experience building or scaling a partner enablement program

• Hands-on experience with Shopify app design or theme development

• Familiarity with headless or composable commerce architectures

• Background in B2B, ERP integrations, or omnichannel commerce

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., GitHub)

• Prior experience in a partnerships or commercial org at a SaaS company
