General Operative

Kepak is a global food company serving international retailers and food service household names with prime cuts of meat, on-trend food concepts and ready-for-market convenience foods.  

Kepak St. Merryn in Merthyr Tydfil has combined beef and lamb processing and packing facilities. We offer beef and lamb products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef and lamb products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance. 

Our Beef & Lamb Boning Departments and our Retail section are looking for people who can pack our meat ready to go to our customers - you need to be able to work in a cold environment, be able to work on a Production Line - standing for your shift pattern.

WE HAVE TWO DIFFERENT SHIFT PATTERNS AVAILABLE:

1. WORKING A 3 ON/ 3 OFF SHIFT PATTERN FROM 6.00AM TO 6.30PM

2. WORKING MONDAY TO FRIDAY FROM 6.00AM & HAVING A FLEXIBLE FINISH DEPENDING ON PRODUCTION

THESE ARE ALL FULL TIME, PERMANENT ROLES WITH A SALARY OF £12.90 PER HOUR.

Daily Tasks:

• Ensuring our products consistently meet high quality standards by following clear operational processes and customer specifications.

• Recognizing the importance of your role in the overall efficiency of the line and constantly seeking ways to improve our processes.
• Prioritizing the health and safety of yourself and your team by strictly adhering to all rules and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Specifically, you will:

• Check the cuts of meat to ensure that they are in line with specifications.
• Be able to recognise the different cuts of meat (training will be given).
• Arrange meat in packaging, complying with display requirements.
• Placing trays/boxes on correct pallets to customer specification.
• Ensure that the pack weight is correct.
• Reject any items including packaging and meats that look to be outside of our quality specifications.
• Be working in a chilled environment.
• Flexible to meet daily production targets.

22 or 33 days annual leave per year (after probation) and depending on which shift pattern you choose.
