At Nowadays, we are building an end-to-end platform for planning corporate events that combines modern web infrastructure with applied AI to solve real, high-stakes operational problems. Our core stack includes: Frontend: React, TypeScript, Next.js Backend: Node.js and Python for APIs, background jobs, and data pipelines Data: PostgreSQL with SQL-heavy workflows and analytics-driven product decisions Infrastructure: Serverless and cloud-native architecture with modern CI/CD and production monitoring AI: LLM-powered systems for information extraction, pricing intelligence, negotiation support, and decision workflows Hard and interesting problems we are solving: Turning unstructured inputs such as emails, PDFs, proposals, and contracts into clean, structured, decision-ready data Building AI systems that planners trust through explainable outputs, human-in-the-loop workflows, and enterprise-grade reliability Designing fast, intuitive UIs for complex financial and logistical data including rates, attrition, concessions, budgets, and timelines Scaling from scrappy zero-to-one features to systems that support global enterprises planning hundreds of events per year Making real-world coordination across venues, vendors, travel, budgets, and stakeholders feel as smooth as modern software As a Founding Engineer, you will own systems end-to-end, from product design to architecture decisions to production deployment. You will help define our engineering culture, tooling, and technical roadmap while working directly with the founders to ship quickly and build software people rely on to bring teams together in real life.

For example, our AI can contact venues by email and phone to get availability, deal with back-and-forth negotiations, and present the best options.We’ve proudly planned events ranging from Amazon’s intimate executive dinners in New York, to Quantstamp’s product launch in Turkey, to Google’s offsite at Universal.Within the first 6 months of launching, Nowadays has experienced exponential growth, growing to $3.4M in booked revenue from customers including Amazon, Google, and Notion.Nowadays’ leadership team is comprised of talented MIT software engineering graduates as well as prestigious backgrounds including Google, Meta, Amazon, Doordash, and McKinsey.### **Mission:**Our mission is to simplify the process of bringing people together by automating the complexity behind events. To become the go-to platform for organizing unforgettable events — making it easy and accessible for everyone, everywhere.As a Founding AI Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our tech, product, and culture — and in building the future of how people gather.### **💼 What You’ll Do:*** Build and scale **AI systems** that automate our event-planning workflow end-to-end* Develop and scale **AI agents** for auto-emailing, calling, web scraping, and deep research* Improve **accuracy and reduce hallucinations** across our LLM-powered features* Design and implement **scalable AI workflows** using modern LLM frameworks and tools* Work with **real customer data** to identify automation opportunities and validate AI solutions* Build **evaluation systems** to measure and improve AI performance over time* Partner closely with **product and ops teams** to understand pain points and ship AI features that matter* Shape our **AI/ML architecture and practices** from the ground up### **🥇 What you’ll bring:*** Experience building and deploying **AI / LLM systems in production*** Strong proficiency in **Python** and modern AI/LLM frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.)* Deep understanding of **prompt engineering, RAG**, and techniques to improve LLM accuracy* Experience with **AI agents, tool calling, and autonomous systems*** Comfort with **full-stack development** and shipping features end-to-end* A bias toward action—you like moving fast, experimenting, and iterating based on real-world results* Excitement about pushing the boundaries of what AI can automate in complex workflows### ✨ Bonus Points* Experience building **AI web agents** or browser automation systems* Zero-to-one **AI product development** experience* Familiarity with **evaluation frameworks** and AI observability tools* Published research or contributions to **open-source AI projects**### **🥰 Why Nowadays?**#### **Compensation & Benefits*** Working Times: US (PST) Hours* Must be based in San Francisco* $130K-$170K* 0.5% - 2% equity_The amount listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change._#### **All of our employees get:*** Free lunch and dinner* Quarterly team offsites (yes, we went to the _White Lotus_ S3 hotel in Thailand)* Monthly fitness stipend* Health insurance* 12 weeks paid parental leave* Generous PTO with required time off to recharge* High ownership, autonomy, and direct access to founders* Access to top venues, events, and travel experiences
