About Thunder Compute

VMware for GPUs

Tech

Our proprietary virtualization stack relies on our ability to network-attach GPU over TCP. We use a CUDA-compatible shim library to intercept calls to CUDA and optimize their execution across the data center. We look for deep expertise in systems architecture, low-latency optimization, and C++. Our infrastructure uses Kubernetes as the foundation with custom multi-cloud networking, scheduling, and storage layers. This is likely the hardest systems problem you'll find at any equivalently early stage startup.

The role

### **Company**Thunder Compute is the lowest cost, easiest GPU cloud for developers. We’re a 4-person team with $4.5M raised from top tier investors including Y Combinator and Matrix Partners.\\There are two parts to our company. 1) we are a cloud platform where customers can rent GPUs just like they would from Coreweave, Lambda, AWS, etc., and 2) we are building systems software to use GPUs more efficiently than these competitors.### RoleAs a cloud infrastructure engineer, you will work on the GoLang backbone for our cloud platform. Your days will be a mix of working to solve problems for customers and building resilient, stable production infrastructure. This is a fast-paced role where you are expected to learn quickly; we will have you jump in from day one.Our infrastructure is majority GoLang. We use a non-standard Kubernetes deployment as a form of hypervisor, with Go scripting for controls and auxiliary services for everything from storage to billing to networking.\\If you worked at a large company and felt restricted working on a single piece of a huge machine, look no further. At Thunder Compute you will work on complicated production infrastructure, learning quickly while interfacing with customers and owning broad scope across the platform.### **Responsibilities**### **Core technical skills:*** GoLang, some Python and Next.js* Kubernetes (unconventional deployment)* Experience owning production systems* Ability to quickly solve problems for clients### **Must haves:*** Fast speed to output, with high attention to detail* Potential for senior leadership as we scale* Strong communication skills* Self-driven (you'll own your work from day 1)### **Preferred*** CS degree from top 50 US university, 3.5+ GPA (Bachelor's required)* Experience building high-stakes production infrastructure for a trading firm or cloud provider### **Logistics*** Full-time, generous salary + equity.* This role is in-person in our San Francisco office.* You will report to Co-founder/CTO Brian (ex-Citadel quant dev).
