Astraea is building the AI operating system for clinical trials. Our product helps clinical teams automate the work between a study protocol and FDA-ready outputs, including protocol and SAP ingestion, clinical data review, SDTM and ADaM dataset generation, TFLs, QC, traceability, and audit trails. On the technical side, Astraea combines AI agents with deterministic data processing. The agent layer helps interpret study documents, plan workflows, and coordinate tasks, while the actual clinical outputs are produced through structured, validated Python and R pipelines. This gives us the flexibility of LLMs without relying on free-form model output for regulated clinical data work. The desktop product is built with React, TypeScript, and Electron, with embedded Python and R runtimes for local clinical data processing. We use schema validation, audit logs, provenance tracking, versioned outputs, and human-in-the-loop review to make the system reliable and reviewable.

The role

Astraea is hiring a QA Engineer to own day-to-day testing of our live product. This is a remote role, 40 hours per week, working closely with our founders and engineers.We’re looking for someone who can learn a complex product, think like a user, and find meaningful problems without needing a detailed script for every task. You’ll help us ship with confidence by testing complete workflows, identifying edge cases, and checking that fixes actually solve the problem.What you’ll do• Run manual, exploratory, smoke, and regression testing across core product workflows.• Test new features and existing functionality, including error states, permissions, data inputs, and cross-browser behavior.• Write clear bug reports with reproduction steps, expected versus actual behavior, screenshots or recordings, and an assessment of user impact.• Work with engineers to reproduce issues, verify fixes, and catch regressions.• Build and maintain a practical regression checklist and communicate what was tested, what failed, and what remains uncertain.• Notice confusing product behavior and suggest improvements to the user experience.What we’re looking for• Hands-on experience testing web applications or SaaS products.• Strong exploratory testing skills: you can identify risky workflows and design useful tests independently.• Clear written communication and reproducible, well-prioritized bug reports.• Attention to detail, curiosity, and reliable follow-through.• Comfort working directly with a small engineering team as the product changes.Nice to haveExperience with browser developer tools, API testing, SQL, or tools such as Playwright or Cypress.
