We are developing foundational models for general purpose manipulation, trained on human demonstration data collected from our data factories – facilities where human data generators wear our data collection gloves and perform various tasks. We use this data to train custom models that generalize over tasks, objects and work on any robot hardware.

The role

We're building foundational models for general purpose manipulation. Our data infrastructure allows us to generate rich, multi-modal human demonstration data at exponential scale.We are using this data to train general-purpose manipulation models that work reliably across tasks, objects, and robot embodiments. We are live in deployment across multiple verticals.As a mechanical engineer, you'll own the mechanical design of our custom data collection hardware - first-of-its-kind wearable instruments for collecting the highest quality robotics data.What you'll do:* Design and iterate on our wearable data collection hardware, from CAD to 3D-printed parts* Apply GD&T to make designs manufacturable and repeatable across units* Maintain and manage the sensor hardware fleet* Root-cause data quality problems that trace back to hardwareYou should have:* Proficiency in CAD, Onshape specifically - you can design, iterate, and prepare parts for fabrication* Hands-on experience with 3D printing - printer setup, tolerances, and material selection* Working knowledge of GD&T* Strong prototyping instinct - comfortable disassembling, testing, and rebuilding hardware* Proof of decision-making with incomplete informationOur culture is built on honesty and willingness to fail fast.
