Job Summary

The Highway Construction Superintendent supervises union employees installing guardrail, attenuators, sign structures, and related highway safety hardware throughout the Road Guard East service area.This is a non-union supervisory position responsible for managing union crews.

Based out of the Folsom, NJ yard, the Superintendent oversees daily crew operations, safety, quality, and production while coordinating with the General Superintendent, Project Manager, clients, and union representatives.

Essential Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise union crews installing highway safety hardware in accordance with plans, specifications, and DOT requirements.

• Plan and direct daily work, set production goals, and assign tasks to complete jobs safely, on time, and within budget.

• Enforce safety requirements and conduct daily toolbox talks, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and site safety inspections.

• Read and interpret construction plans, shop drawings, and traffic control plans to ensure field work meets contract requirements.

• Coordinate site setup, traffic control, material staging, and equipment use; verify proper operation and maintenance of crew equipment.

• Manage crew operations in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement, coordinate staffing with the local union hall, and address crew issues professionally.

• Mentor, train, and develop crew members through clear direction and constructive feedback.

• Serve as the on-site point of contact for project coordination.

• Complete and submit accurate daily reports, timesheets, production logs, and equipment and material records.
