Federal Work-Study - Office and Event Assistant (Student Wage)

Department Overview: 

As the largest department of religious studies at a public university, we embody the fragile proposition that informed participation in pluralist societies requires understanding religious worlds. Our faculty is uncommonly diverse, trained in many languages, traditions, and fields. It is also uncommonly pluralist in the range of research and teaching methods we employ; our curriculum includes courses taught through historical, philological, ethnographic, theological, philosophical, comparative, and literary approaches.

Job duties will include:

• Providing Zoom meeting support.
• Completing light office work tasks such as mailroom sorting and photocopying, supporting department events (posting signage, delivering and setting up catering, cleaning up event space after).  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Religious Studies majors. 
• Good academic standing.  
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. 
• Strong written communication and problem-solving skills

Scheduling: Mon-Fri. Occasional event work on weekends.

Compensation: $16.50/hr.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year undergraduate student enrolled full-time at UVA. Federal Work Study eligibility is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
