Division Overview:

Crown’s Beverage Division manufactures a variety of packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees, and teas as well as new energy drinks. Crown Beverage leads the packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world looks at beverage cans. With a large printable surface area and a wide range of sizes, shapes and decorating options, our aluminum cans are the perfect packaging format to create compelling brand presence where it counts. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all safety equipment, guards, and devices are in place at all times, and follows safe work procedures and safety rules. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the area assigned. Makes sure area/machine of work is clean after finishing up repairs or PM.
  • When no PM, Project or specific job is assigned per Supervisor/Manager, the PMR needs to help run the lines (Cupper, Baler and Bodymakers) following all regular routines of the FE Mechanics or elsewhere if assigned by supervision.
  • Train all employees to necessary standards on Front End Operation. Works closely to the Shift Supervisor assessing training needs and actively participating on the Training Committee Meetings.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment for the Front-End area. Locates and diagnosis trouble in production equipment.
  • Assemble and disassemble all tools and dies, along with all assigned machinery and equipment. Understand and follow blueprints, sketches or verbal instructions to completion of assigned tasks
  • Uses a variety of mechanical tools including measuring and testing instruments, along with mechanical or electrical hoists.
  • Plan, organize and performs Size Conversions on Cuppers, Bodymakers and Trimmers. Assists when necessary on Washer conversion and Coolant System maintenance. Also performs Size Conversion on Printers, LSMs and Necker if assigned by Supervision.
  • Measures and records all tool dimensions against specifications. Follows standard operating procedures.
  • Able to communicate & work closely with Millwrights/Tooling and Die in troubleshooting to resolve production issues.
  • Keeps Production Supervisors/Managers informed of operational status of Front-End equipment.
  • Analyze process for out-of-control limits for cause and takes corrective action where possible.
  • Responsible for the Baler PMs, Repairs and Troubleshooting.
  • Performs all Preventative Maintenance assignments. Report to Front End PMR Supervisor on status of all PMs.
  • Ensures that Front End mechanics complete all assigned duties.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • Execute all PMs and Repairs on the Front End. Reports to Managers/Supervisors on status of all PMs.
  • Fills in as a Mechanic in case of absence under the Front End Lead instructions.
  • Works closely to the Front End and Back End Lead/PMR to coordinate daily routines (C/Os, Coil Changes, Planned or Unplanned stops) and also for plant necessities.
  • Ensure Washer operation assisting with all repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Helps plan and coordinate PM Days and Overhauls ensuring all necessary tasks are planned and executed.
  • Assists Front End PMR Supervisor on ordering parts.
  • Works closely with Storeroom Attendant on keeping stock of needed items. Organize area Kanban replacing used items when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years industrial maintenance experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Experience doing alignment of machinery
  • Prior experience with milling machines, lathe, welder and other shop equipment
  • Ability to set up, tear down, and rebuild machinery and equipment according to blueprints and schematics
  • Use of all sizes of air impact and electric wrenches, all pipe fitting tools and equipment
  • Excellent written, oral communication and organizational skills
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills and ability to prioritize workload
  • Experience with OSHA safety practices
  • Follows LOTO without fail.
  • Works well with others.

Qualifications:

In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.

Competencies:

  • Good oral and written communications skills. Good record keeping skills. Good listening skills. Accurate measurement capability. Ability to understand and speak basic English.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  
  • The associate may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

  • Generally, works in a plant environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.  
  • The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
  • The noise level is frequently loud.
