Role summary
We are seeking a Wi-Fi Design Architect to lead the architecture and engineering strategy for the Clients global enterprise Wi-Fi environment. In the early phases of the engagement, you will initiate the architecture and engineering strategy and carry out a standards assessment, with the formal deliverable due in Phase 2. You will also support skills uplift, helping Client and delivery teams build the design and engineering capability needed to sustain the wireless estate.
Key responsibilities
Architecture and engineering strategy
Define the target-state wireless architecture, covering RF design principles, WLAN topology, controller or cloud management model, wired and WAN dependencies, and security integration
Develop the architecture and engineering strategy aligned to business priorities, user needs, and the technology roadmap
Assess current-state architecture to identify gaps, risks, technical debt, and regional inconsistencies
Recommend technology direction, including Wi-Fi 6E/7 adoption, vendor and platform strategy, lifecycle refresh, and IoT and guest segmentation
Produce architecture documentation, including high-level and low-level design artifacts, reference architectures, and decision records
Standards assessment (Phase 2 deliverable)
Initiate the standards assessment during Phase 1, scoping what is covered and agreeing the assessment criteria with stakeholders
Review existing design standards, configuration baselines, naming conventions, and site design templates across regions
Benchmark current standards against vendor best practice, industry frameworks, and security requirements
Identify gaps, conflicts, and variations between regions and sites, and prioritize remediation
Deliver the standards assessment report in Phase 2, with findings, recommendations, and a roadmap for standards adoption
Define the governance model for ongoing standards maintenance, exceptions, and design authority approvals
