Essential Duties:
- Perform welding repairs and fabrication on mining equipment.
- Read and understand blueprints to assemble and fabricate parts from them.
- Locate and repair cracks in metal parts and structural members.
- Assist mechanics and other maintenance personnel as needed.
- Perform duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and state and federal environmental regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong work ethic with effective communication skills and a creative and innovative attitude.
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment, as well as individually with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of all phases of welding and cutting of metals and understanding metal properties.
- Ability to read blueprints with knowledge of rigging procedures.
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
Education and Training:
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Enrolled in welding technology program and in good academic standing.
ANALYSIS OF PHYSICAL DEMANDS FOR POSITION:
- Occasionally (0-1/3 of workday): Sitting, crawling and climbing (ladders, entering/exiting equipment); pinching 17 lbs. (tools); lifting and carrying 115 lbs. (dragline teeth, propane tanks); and pushing and pulling 171 lbs. (components).
- Frequently (1/3-2/3 of workday): Balancing, stooping/bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching overhead and at waist level, and fine finger dexterity (locating and repairing welds and handling tools); and speaking (communication).
- Continually (2/3-3/3 of workday): Gripping 80 lbs., handling objects, and repetitive motions (welding and tools); standing and walking; and hearing, near vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception (communication and hazard recognition).Â
NOTE:This position requires ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Employees may be exposed to chemicals, dust, noise, and welding fumes and may be required to work at heights/elevated surfaces and on uneven terrain. Employees must be able to safely operate company vehicles/equipment as required. Employees must be able to work while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety footwear, safety glasses, hard hat, and ear protection.

Starting wage: $33.20 (hourly)
