Plant Manager - Waterford Energy Center

Talen Energy is seeking a Plant Manager for our Waterford Energy Center.  The Waterford Energy Center is a 880 MW, 3-unit, natural gas-fired facility located in Waterford, OH.  The CCGT consists of 3 gas turbines and 1 steam turbine.

Position Summary

Provide overall leadership and direction to all plant personnel and outside personnel to maximize the value of the generation asset.  Drive safe, reliable, and cost-effective performance to achieve corporate objectives and to maximize the profitability of the generating asset. Develop and implement company and business unit Operational Excellence initiatives as a member of the Talen Fossil Division leadership team.

Essential Functions

• Lead, develop and implement long-term business and operation strategies for the plant, which meet departmental and corporate goals.
• Manage the safety, environmental and NERC compliance activities at the plant to achieve corporate objectives in these areas.  Promote a safety conscious work environment. 
• Coordinate generation scheduling with Talen Marketing to derive maximum profitability for the station.
• Manage the overall operation and maintenance aspects of the plant in an efficient, cost-effective manner. Ensure operating standards are met or exceeded and that all required maintenance activities are completed in a cost effective and timely manner.
• Develop and manage the plant’s Operations and Maintenance budget and plant inventory. Identify and justify future capital projects that enhance bottom-line financial and operational performance.  Lead the plant in efforts to identify and resolve problem areas. Provide contract administration for labor services and materials.
• Provide supervision, direction and leadership to the plant teams and individuals.  This includes day to day supervision, individual development, goal setting, and performance management and recognition. 
• Establish expectations and implement timely/complete communications to all plant personnel to provide information and increase understanding of plant performance; safety, environmental and financial performance; long-term strategies and initiatives; Corporate and department policies, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of power generation experience in operation and maintenance of power plant mechanical and electrical equipment and control systems.
• BS degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading in an operating power plant work environment. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Working knowledge of finance and accounting principles.
• Working knowledge of government regulations including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, DEP, and NERC.

Travel Required

• Travel is required, based on fleet initiatives (5-15%)
