About the Role

We are looking for a hands on Water & Wastewater Design Engineer with 3 to 5 years of experience to join our municipal utilities group. This is a production and design focused role. You will spend your time developing calculations, plan sets, and specifications for water treatment plant improvements, pump and lift stations, force mains, gravity sewer, and water distribution projects across coastal Georgia and South Carolina.

You will work under a senior engineer and project manager who will give you real ownership of your deliverables, walk your designs with you, and get you positioned for your PE. If you enjoy solving hydraulic problems, seeing your drawings get built, and visiting the sites you designed, this is the seat.

 

What we are looking for:

We are seeking a motivated and technically strong Water & Wastewater Engineer who thrives in a client-facing, collaborative consulting environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering high-quality municipal infrastructure projects, enjoys working closely with multidisciplinary teams, and is eager to take ownership of their work.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare design calculations and construction documents for water treatment plant improvements, wastewater treatment plant improvements, pump and lift stations, force mains, gravity sewer, and water distribution systems.
  • Size and lay out force mains and pipelines, including pipe material selection, pressure and velocity checks, air release and valve placement, thrust restraint, and system head curve and pump curve analysis.
  • Produce plan and profile sheets, details, and utility layouts in AutoCAD Civil 3D to firm and agency standards.
  • Develop hydraulic profiles, process flow diagrams, chemical feed and disinfection calculations, and unit process sizing for treatment facilities.
  • Assist with the preparation of design reports, technical memoranda, and engineering reports; draft, update, and review project specifications.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and opinions of probable construction cost.
  • Support permitting through local utilities, and other regulatory agencies, including permit applications and response to agency comments
  • Perform site visits to verify existing conditions and support construction phase services, including RFIs, submittal and shop drawing review, and field observation.
  • Manage your workload across multiple active projects and keep the project manager current on schedule and budget.
  • Communicate with clients and teammates to provide updates, flag issues early, and hit milestones.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field
  • 3 to 5 years of water and wastewater design experience in a consulting or municipal environment
  • EIT certification, or the ability to sit for the PE within a reasonable timeframe
  • Demonstrated experience in water & wastewater design and consulting
  • Strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and ownership of deliverables 
  • Ethical, professional, and committed to high-quality engineering
  • Passion for mentoring junior engineering staff and contributing to team development
