Volunteering your time is easy and rewarding for both you and those with whom you interact. Head Start relies on volunteers to assist with our program’s needs and we have a variety of opportunities for volunteers.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Classroom Volunteer – Assist with developmentally appropriate activities, lesson plans, and special classroom activities.
Food Service Volunteer - Assist with activities performed in the center kitchen and meal times with children.
Office Volunteer – Perform clerical duties, such as word processing, photocopying/scanning, and filing. Answer and forward telephone calls and welcomes visitors.
Speakers/Presenters – Share your knowledge in your area of expertise by presenting your information to student, parents, or program staff.
Manual Labor– (Painting, Landscaping, Repairing) Help to maintain a clean environment in our facilities by cleaning toys, furniture, or office space.
Qualifications
To ensure a safe environment for all,Administration and Center volunteers are subject to a background check before beginning volunteer service.1302.90, R9-5-203
Additionally, Frequent Volunteers at aCenter are required to complete/provide the following prior to volunteering:

- Verification of immunizations - (Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (Tdap) and Tuberculosis skin test (Tb)1302.94, R9-5-402
