Working withour reinsurance team in North America you’ll learn more aboutapplying business analytics, ML/AI, and creative data visualization to tackle complex problems for clients and the insurance industry as a whole, risk mitigation solutions anddoing real work for Howden Re's current and prospective clients.Â

 As a Catastrophe R&D Intern, you will collaborate both internally and externally with analysts and senior executives.   Â
On aday-to-day basisyou’ll:Â
Assist in analysis projects underguidance of senior catastrophe modelers.Â
Gather,organize and review data relevant to catastrophe model validation.Â
Perform analyses to extract data sets that can be used to calculate the client's risk exposure.Â
Assist senior R&D team members in preparing and formatting summaries, presentations, and reportsin order to convey potential risk andloss results for clients.Â
Research and summarize industry publications and scientific papers of specific or regional perilsin order to provideadditional sources of information used for analyses and client reportsÂ
Whowe’re looking forÂ
You’ll be working towards aBachelor’s or advanceddegree inin Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Meteorology, or similar analytical / science major.You’ll be able to clearly communicate your thoughts and ideas both in writing and in person. And be able to handle multiple tasks and projects at the same time in a client service, deadline-driven environment.Â
You will:Â
Be activelypursuing aBachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Meteorology, or similar analytical / science majorÂ
Be a rising senior (graduating in December 2027 or by June 2028)
Have aGPAof3.0+Â
Have a high achieving academic record in program major and summer internships or other work experienceÂ
Be proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPointÂ
Possess the ability to work independently or within a team based on work demandsÂ
Pay close attention todetail, because every small detail mattersÂ
Have a keen ability to organizeÂ
