We are seeking two experienced Vendor Audit Specialists to support a fast-moving vendor audit programfocused on reviewing vendor invoices against commercial contract terms, identifying overbillings,documenting findings, and supporting recovery activities. This is a highly data-intensive role requiringadvanced comfort in Excel, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently across vendor andinternal stakeholder groups.
The successful candidates will support ongoing audit execution while also helping gather and organizelarge volumes of vendor and contract data for a new AI-enabled audit capability. This is not a tooldevelopment, dashboarding, or prompt engineering role. The work is primarily focused on vendor auditexecution, data gathering, invoice reconciliation, and contract compliance analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Review vendor invoices, purchase orders, change orders, timesheets, rate schedules, and supportingdocumentation against commercial contract terms.
- Identify overbillings, billing discrepancies, non-compliance issues, and recovery opportunities.
- Build, maintain, and reconcile Excel-based audit workpapers, data sets, and supporting schedules.
- Extract and compile vendor data from SAP, ERP systems, SharePoint, ACP, and vendor-provideddocumentation.
- Support audit planning, scope development, documentation gathering, and audit trail maintenance.
- Engage with vendors and internal stakeholders to clarify billing records, request documentation, andsupport recovery actions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, Operations, and other internalteams to resolve audit findings.
- Organize clean, accurate vendor audit data to support the development of an AI-enabled auditcapability.
● 10+ years of relevant experience in vendor audit, invoice compliance, contract compliance, finance,supply chain, commercial operations, project controls, or a related analytical audit function.
● University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Commerce, Engineering, or a relateddiscipline.
● Strong Excel proficiency at a genuine working level, with the ability and willingness to spend the majorityof the workday building, manipulating, and reconciling large data sets.
● Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns, validate billing data, and clearly documentaudit findings.
● Experience reviewing invoices, billing records, contract terms, pricing schedules, reimbursable costprovisions, or rate structures.
● SAP or ERP navigation experience for internal data extraction.
● Strong organization, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
● Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment without close supervision.
● Fast learner with a proven ability to quickly understand new systems, contract structures, and auditrequirements.
● Eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
● Available for an ASAP start and able to maintain full availability through the initial months of theengagement, with no extended vacation blocks.
Preferred Skills
● Direct vendor audit experience reviewing invoices against commercial contract terms and identifyingoverbillings.
● Experience supporting financial recovery, vendor negotiations, dispute resolution, or commercialcloseout.
● Oil and gas, energy, engineering, construction, or large-scale capital project experience.
● Experience with engineering and construction services contracts, including lump sum, unit rate, andcost-reimbursable structures.
● Professional designation or certification such as CPA, CIA, CISA, PMP, SCMP, or equivalent.
● Project management experience with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiplestakeholders.
● Experience working cross-functionally with Finance, Supply Chain, Legal, Operations, or project teams ina large enterprise environment.
● Strong vendor-facing communication skills and the ability to professionally request documentation,clarify billing details, and support issue resolution.
