Propellant Production Technician
About the RoleÂ
TheDestinusengineering team is seeking aPropellant Production Technician to support the serial manufacturing of solid rocket motor propellant at our Lucerne facility. The role is hands-on and process-focused, working directly with energetic and chemical materials in a tightly regulated, safety-critical production environment.Â
The ideal candidate is technically grounded, detail-oriented, and comfortable following precise procedures without shortcuts. They understand that in this environment, quality and safety are inseparable, and that meticulous documentation is as much a part of the job as the production work itself.Â
What You’ll DoÂ
- Carry out propellant mixing, casting, and curing operations for solid rocket motor grains following validated batch records and SOPsÂ
- Weigh, prepare, and handle energetic and chemical raw materials in accordance with applicable safety protocols, permits, and operating proceduresÂ
- Operate and monitor production equipment (mixers, casting stations, curing ovens) and record process parameters accurately throughout each batchÂ
- Complete batch documentation fully and accurately; maintain traceability of materials, process parameters, and production records for every runÂ
- Perform in-process quality checks and dimensional or visual inspections; identify and escalate non-conformances promptlyÂ
- Support the assembly & integration and packaging of the final productÂ
- Support troubleshooting and corrective actions in collaboration with the Production Manager, engineering, and QA teamsÂ
- Keep the production area clean, organised, and compliant with housekeeping and safety standards at all timesÂ
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of production processes and safety practicesÂ
What You’ll NeedÂ
- Background in chemistry, chemical production, or a related technical field, Chemielaborant EFZ qualification is a plusÂ
- Hands-on experience in a chemical or process manufacturing environment, ideally batch production; experience with energetic, pyrotechnic, or otherwise hazardous materials is a strong advantageÂ
- Familiarity with safety-critical production procedures, hazardous materials handling, and relevant Swiss regulations (SUVA, StFV)Â
- Ability to follow, and maintain SOPs and batch records with a high level of accuracy and disciplineÂ
- Experience with quality control and in-process inspection in a production or laboratory environmentÂ
- High attention to detail and a methodical, safety-first approach to all production activitiesÂ
- Fluent in German or English is an advantageÂ
