Summary:

We are seeking aSenior UX Designer (L5) to join theCore Local Journeys team within Geo, supporting high-traffic, consumer-facing experiences across Maps. The team works on foundational Maps surfaces includingSearch, Saves & Lists, Inspire, and Placesheet, as well as emerging experiences involvingpersonalization, contextualization, and AI-powered Ask Maps experiences.

This is a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment focused on developingnew and Client consumer experiences. The ideal candidate will have strong visual and interaction design craft, hands-on prototyping capabilities, and experience designing formobile-first consumer products at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and prototypenew, innovative consumer experiences across Maps surfaces.

• Developinteractive prototypes to communicate and validate concepts, user flows, and design specifications.

• Createproduction-ready designs, visual assets, user flows, and detailed design specifications in Figma.

• Work primarily onmobile experiences, with some collaboration around desktop experiences.

• Contribute to experiences involvingpersonalization and contextualization, particularly within Ask Maps and Saves & Lists.

• Explore howAI, Gemini, APIs, live data, and other emerging technologies can enhance consumer experiences.

• Rapidly prototype ideas and test concepts in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

• Partner closely withProduct Managers, Engineers, UX Designers, Visual Designers, Writers, and Prompt Writers to bring experiences from concept through execution.

• Lead design critiques, clearly communicate design rationale, and provide constructive feedback to other designers.

• Independently manage and drivecomplex, ambiguous design projects with limited oversight.

• Useuser research, product insights, market trends, and available metrics to inform design decisions.

• Help shape experiences that support discovery, trip planning, saving places, list creation, and personalized recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

• Approximately8 years of product/UX design experience, appropriate for an L5/Senior-level designer.

• Strong experience designingconsumer-facing digital products, particularly high-traffic or frequently used applications.

• Strongvisual design, interaction design, and design craft with the ability to produce production-ready work.

• Demonstrated experience creatinginteractive prototypes, not only static design mockups.

• Strong proficiency withFigma and modern prototyping workflows.

• Experience designingmobile-first experiences, with recent work heavily focused on mobile applications.

• Ability to independently lead ambiguous projects and make informed design decisions.

• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Product, Engineering, and other design disciplines.

• Ability to clearly articulate design rationale and participate in or lead design critiques.

• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design work and prototyping.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience designing forlarge-scale consumer products or high-traffic applications.

• Experience withAI-powered, generative AI, conversational UI, or AI-integrated experiences.

• Experience using APIs, live data, or code-oriented prototyping workflows.

• Experience with modern prototyping tools such asGoogle Antigravity, Cloud Code, or Make.

• Experience with consumer products involvingnavigation, discovery, recommendations, travel, food delivery, or location-based experiences.

• Prior experience at a major technology company or  Similar company is a plus.

• Experience working across mobile and desktop platforms.

• Ability to translate research, data, and product insights into effective design solutions.
