The Department of Nursing Science invites applications for a full-time, probationary (tenure-track) Assistant or Associate Professor of Nursing beginning January 2027. We seek a collaborative nurse educator committed to preparing practice-ready baccalaureate nurses and contributing to a student-centered academic community. The primary teaching need for this search is general acute care nursing; opportunities may also exist to teach across the undergraduate curriculum based on candidateexpertise and departmental needs. 

Candidates with a completed doctorate, those currently pursuing a doctorate, andmaster’s-prepared nurses interested in continued academic and professional development are encouraged to apply. 

This is an in-person faculty position based on the St. Cloud State University campus in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Regular on-campus presence isrequired. The successful candidate will join faculty who value strong clinical partnerships, applied learning, clinical judgment, simulation, evidence-based practice, and preparation for contemporary nursing practice. Teaching assignments may include classroom, laboratory, simulation, clinical, hybrid, and online learning environments based on departmental and program needs.

Position Overview 

The Department of Nursing Science offers a pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and a fully online RN-BS Completion Program. The pre-licensure program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. Educational and clinical experiences prepare graduates to provide person-centered nursing care in diverse and rapidly changing health care environments. 

The department emphasizes clinical judgment, evidence-based practice,quality and safety, interprofessional collaboration, population health, professional identity, and preparation for the NCLEX-RN. Students learn through classroom, clinical, simulation, laboratory, and technology-enhanced experiences, supported by the Jim and Ann Marie Maciej Nursing Education Suite and strong regional clinical partnerships. 

Primary Responsibilities 

• Teach undergraduate nursing courses in classroom, clinical, simulation, and/or online environments, with a primaryanticipated focusin general acute care nursing. 

• Support student learning, clinical judgment development, professional formation, and progression toward entry-level nursing practice. 

• Provide academic advising, mentoring, and guidance to undergraduate nursing students. 

• Collaborate with nursing faculty, staff, adjunct clinical faculty, preceptors, and community/clinical partners. 

•Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation, assessment of student learning, and continuous quality improvement. 

• Contribute to accreditation, regulatory, governance, and departmental service activities. 

• Engage in professional development, scholarly or creative activity, and service consistent with the expectations of a probationary faculty appointment and the IFO collective bargaining agreement. 

•Participate in departmental initiatives related to contemporary nursing education, including simulation, clinical judgment, the AACN Essentials, NCLEX-RN, and Next Generation NCLEX (NGN), asappropriate. 

Appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank will bedetermined based on the successful candidate’s education, academic and professional experience, scholarly accomplishments, and qualifications consistent with St. Cloud State University and Minnesota State policies and the applicable collective bargaining agreement

Salary Range:*The salary range denoted is the contractual range; however, salary upon hire is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution completed by the date of appointment. 

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States and eligibility for Minnesota RN licensure by the date of appointment. 

• Minimum of two years of professional nursing practice experience. 

• Clinical knowledge or professional experience relevant to general acute care nursing and/or a related area of nursing practice. 

• Demonstrated potential for effective teaching, clinical instruction, precepting, mentoring, staff development, or professional nursing education. 

• Effective oral, written, interpersonal, and collaborative communication skills. 

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, clinical partners, and individuals from diverse backgrounds. 

• Commitment to student success and preparation of nurses for contemporary professional practice. 

Preferred Qualification 

• Doctoral degree in nursing ora related field (PhD, DNP, EdD), completed or in progress. 

• Graduate preparation, certification, or substantial clinicalexpertise in adult acute care, medical-surgical, critical care, emergency, progressive care, perioperative, or other related acute care nursing practice. 

• Teaching experience in a baccalaureate nursing program or other higher-educationsetting. 

• Experience teaching in clinical, simulation, skills laboratory, online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced learning environments. 

• Experience mentoring or precepting nursing students, new graduate nurses, or practicing nurses. 

• Familiarity with contemporary nursing education frameworks and standards, including the AACN Essentials, clinical judgment, NCLEX-RN, and Next Generation NCLEX (NGN). 

• Evidence of scholarly activity ordemonstrated potential for scholarshipappropriate to the faculty role. 

• Experience with curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation, regulatory review, or academic service. 

• Demonstrated interest in continued professional development and advancement as a nurse educator.
