Role summary:
As a Staff Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving the full software development lifecycle with a focus on cloud-native architecture and AI/ML integration. Join the Walmart Fulfillment Services and Marketplace Engineering team, where innovation and engineering excellence drive scalable, resilient solutions supporting business growth. This team focuses on cloud-native architecture, AI integration, and modern technologies to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency. Members lead architectural decisions, conduct design reviews, and apply software design patterns to solve complex problems in a high-scale environment. Collaboration across teams and data-driven decision-making are key to delivering quality products. The team fosters continuous improvement, technical leadership, and the adoption of best practices to maintain high standards and accelerate engineering productivity.
What you'll do:

Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components to support automation and multi-step reasoning.
Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements and track success metrics.

What you'll bring:

10+ years of proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
Experience driving full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
Demonstrated ability in debugging, remedial action, and problem solving to maintain high-quality deliverables.
Skilled in DevOps engineering practices to enhance platform capabilities and developer productivity.
Ability to apply data-driven decision making and innovation to optimize engineering processes and outcomes.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
