Role summary:
As a Distinguished Software Engineer, you will lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native AI-powered systems, ensuring architectural integrity and operational excellence. This role requires translating strategic objectives into system-level execution while fostering collaboration across engineering teams. You will champion best practices in software development, reliability, and continuous improvement, driving innovation and mentoring engineers. Your technical leadership will ensure robust, maintainable solutions aligned with enterprise standards, supporting Walmart’s commitment to quality, performance, and customer impact through effective execution and strategic decision-making.
About the team:
The team leads the design and delivery of advanced software and AI-driven systems within the Agentic Commerce - Sparky BackEnd domain. They develop scalable, reliable solutions aligned with strategic goals, managing the full software lifecycle including architecture, deployment, and cloud cost optimization. By integrating AI agents and innovative technologies, the team enhances system performance and operational efficiency. Collaborating across multiple products and stakeholders, they emphasize technical excellence, continuous improvement, and strong project management to deliver high-quality software products that support business growth and technological advancement.
What you'll do:

Lead design and development of scalable, cloud-native AI-powered software systems and agents.
Translate domain-level strategies into system-level implementations, ensuring architectural integrity and reliability.
Drive operational excellence through technical guidance, code reviews, and strategic architectural decisions.
Champion DevOps and CI/CD practices to ensure resilient, observable, and performant services.
Identify and resolve architectural bottlenecks, automating processes to improve engineering velocity.
Mentor engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high standards.
Collaborate across teams to align technical solutions with business objectives and customer needs.

What you'll bring:

Proven expertise in designing and building scalable, cloud-native software systems with AI integration.
Strong technical leadership skills, including architectural decision-making and system-level execution.
Experience driving operational excellence through DevOps, CI/CD, and observability practices.
Ability to mentor engineers and foster a culture of continuous learning and high standards.
Skilled in identifying and resolving architectural bottlenecks to improve system performance and developer experience.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated sound technical judgment and adaptability to evolving technologies and business needs.

The annual salary range for this position is $169,000.00 - $338,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
