Role Name: Systems Engineer – Mechatronics I–III
Work Location: DFW, Texas (Onsite)



Role Summary
The Systems Engineer within the Mechatronics group will serve as a technical specialist, providing expertise to support the development of new product ideas, concepts, and product improvements.
This role ensures that designs remain aligned with organizational objectives and serves as the interface between Product Management, Solution/System Architects, Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Software Developers. The Systems Engineer will help transform defined stakeholder requirements into system and subsystem requirements that guide the overall solution design.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to gather, define, and track goals and KPIs.
  • Translate product goals into comprehensive system and subsystem requirements.
  • Generate and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for subsystem and vehicle interactions.
  • Define functional and non-functional requirements in detailed subsystem specification documents.
  • Analyze the impact of changes to stakeholder requirements.
  • Assist Safety Engineers with system and subsystem analysis to mitigate risk exposure.
  • Ensure safety goals, requirements, and methodologies are incorporated into product designs.
  • Evaluate new requests and provide accurate estimates for new features and functionality.
  • Participate in conceptual design and documentation activities.
  • Lead design reviews to ensure requirements traceability and compliance.
  • Review and approve test plans and procedures to ensure alignment with system requirements.
  • Contribute to business development activities through proposal inputs and customer meetings.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4–7 years of direct experience in requirements elicitation, analysis, and generation.
  • Proven experience working throughout the product development lifecycle for complex systems and subsystems.
  • Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, or related technologies is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Agile and/or Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles, hardware development, and requirements management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with requirements management tools such as:
    • IBM DOORS
    • Jama Connect
    • Polarion
    • Other comparable requirements management tools
  • Experience performing safety analyses such as:
    • HARA
    • STPA
    • FMEA
    • Other applicable safety analysis methodologies
  • INCOSE SEP certification or CPRE certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation throughout the workday.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment.
  • Ability to effectively perform job responsibilities using computer monitors.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information effectively in person, by phone, and through electronic communication.
  • Ability to move throughout an office environment as required.
