Role Overview
The Electronics Test and Validation team is responsible for module-level validation testing to ensure ECU electronics are designed and manufactured correctly. The team develops scalable tools, processes, hardware, and software solutions used across characterization, validation, and manufacturing.
In this role, you will serve as an individual contributor responsible for the design verification and characterization of vehicle electronics, with a particular focus on Zonal and Battery ECUs. You will collaborate cross-functionally with reliability, hardware design, firmware, and software teams to ensure electronics meet module-level requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed design verification and characterization test plans for all phases of ECU programs, incorporating input from reliability, design, and firmware teams.
- Lead the execution of characterization test plans in alignment with project milestones and schedules.
- Own test coverage reports, results analysis, and technical documentation.
- Perform bench-level electrical characterization at both IC and PCBA levels.
- Provide early feedback to design engineers regarding design decisions, testability, and potential technical risks.
- Develop and present Design for Testability (DFT) reports for ECU designs.
- Own characterization schedules and communicate project status to upper management and cross-functional teams.
- Develop basic automation scripts and instrumentation drivers using Python to improve characterization efficiency.
- Collaborate with software and firmware engineers to flash, test, debug, and troubleshoot firmware.
- Lead cross-functional root-cause investigations for non-compliant test results using technical troubleshooting and data analysis.
- Document findings and provide clear recommendations to engineering stakeholders.
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience.
- 10+ years of experience in electronics characterization, validation, verification, or electrical testing.
- Strong hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation, including:
- Oscilloscopes
- Power supplies
- Electronic loads
- Digital multimeters (DMMs)
- Other electrical measurement and characterization equipment
- Strong understanding of Electrical Engineering fundamentals, including analog and digital electronics.
- Working knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and automotive communication buses.
- Experience performing IC-level and PCBA-level characterization.
- Experience with ECU design verification and validation.
- Hands-on experience with Python scripting, test automation, and data analysis.
- Ability to develop instrumentation drivers and automate characterization activities.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware/firmware interactions and supporting root-cause analysis.
- Strong cross-functional communication, documentation, and technical presentation skills.
- Ability to independently manage characterization activities, schedules, test coverage, and deliverables.
