Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Power Systems Software Engineers to support the development, enhancement, implementation, and maintenance of advanced grid management, electricity market, and energy management software solutions.
The ideal candidate will combine strong power systems domain expertise with hands-on software development experience and will be comfortable working with high-availability applications supporting electricity markets, grid operations, and utility environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance, evolve, maintain, and support high-availability electricity market and grid management software applications.
- Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize power systems application functionality.
- Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, implementation, deployment, and production support.
- Develop code fixes, model conversion tools, technical documentation, and user interface enhancements.
- Analyze and resolve complex technical issues affecting power systems and grid applications.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, development, and other cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
- Support software implementations, upgrades, integrations, and overall project delivery.
- Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and software quality.
- Translate power systems and electricity market requirements into effective software solutions.
- Support mission-critical applications used in grid operations and energy market environments.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience with Power Systems Analysis.
- Experience with Power Systems Application Software Development and Implementation.
- Knowledge of electricity markets, grid operations, Energy Management Systems (EMS), or utility applications.
- Hands-on software development experience with one or more of the following:
- Java
- C++
- .NET
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
- Ability to bridge power systems engineering requirements with software development and implementation.
Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas is highly preferred:
- Security-Constrained Unit Commitment (SCUC)
- Economic Dispatch
- Mixed Integer Programming (MIP)
- Mathematical optimization and optimization algorithms
- Applied Mathematics
- Operations Research
- Energy Management Systems (EMS)
- Electricity market applications
- Grid management software
- Utility and power systems applications
- Grid modernization and integrated grid solutions
- Power system stability
- Transmission and/or distribution systems
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong combination of:
- Deep understanding of power systems and electric utility operations.
- Strong software engineering and application development skills.
- Experience developing, implementing, or supporting grid, EMS, electricity market, or power systems applications.
- Knowledge of mathematical optimization techniques used within electricity market and grid applications.
- Ability to work effectively across both engineering and software development disciplines.
