Chemours is seeking aCoatings Senior Laboratory Technician to join our Teflon™ Coatings Technology team within Advanced Performance Materials. This position is based at our Chemours Discovery Hub in Newark, Delaware and reports directly to the lab supervisor.

As a Coatings Laboratory Technician, you will play a key role in supporting daily laboratory activities through hands-on execution of coating preparation, application, testing, and documentation activities of experimental projects. Working closely with scientists and engineers, you will prepare formulations and test specimens, operate laboratory equipment, conduct routine testing, maintain organized work areas, and ensure accurate recording of results.

This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys practical laboratory work and takes pride in being the person who helps to keep the lab running safely, efficiently and reliably with consistent execution and attention to detail.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Collaborate with scientists, technicians, and other team members to support testing, development, and customer-related projects.
  • Prepare existing and experimental coating formulations following established laboratory procedures and work instructions.
  • Apply coating using standard laboratory or pilot-scale equipment, including mixing, spraying, curing, and other defined application steps.
  • Perform routine physical, chemical, and coating-performance tests using established methods.
  • Record sample information, process conditions, observations, test results, and deviations accurately in electronic systems.
  • Follow all safety, quality and housekeeping requirements while promoting a safe and organized work environment.
  • Clean, inspect, and promptly report any issues within the assigned workspaces.
  • Monitor laboratory consumables and raw materials and support receiving, labeling, storage, inventory, and disposal activities.
  • Handle chemicals and waste safely and follow all laboratory safety, quality, environmental, and housekeeping requirements.
  • Demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and a willingness to perform hands-on laboratory tasks in support of business objectives.

The following is required for this role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a laboratory, manufacturing, maintenance, paint or coatings, chemical handling, or other hands-on technical environment.
  • Ability to follow established procedures, work instructions, and verbal instructions consistently.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately perform measurements, label materials, prepare samples, and complete basic calculations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation related to assigned laboratory activities.
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry and use of standard Microsoft Office applications.
  • Commitment to safe work practices and ability to consistently follow all site safety requirements, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Reliable work habits, strong organizational skills, and a willingness to perform routine laboratory and testing activities with accuracy and consistency.

The following is preferred for this role:

  • Technical, vocational, or associate-level education in chemistry, coatings technology, material science or a related technical field.
  • Practical experience with formulating, preparing, applying and testing of industrial coatings or coating raw materials.
  • Experience operating common laboratory equipment such as mixers, balances, ovens, and other instruments.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain laboratory notebooks, test results, production records, equipment logs, or other operational documentation.
