Do you get a thrill from using technology to make projects run like a well-oiled machine? Do you dream of a world where construction projects don’t run on Excel? Would you say that well-configured systems can be the key to unlock the mythical treasure of delivering capital projects on time and on budget? Have you survived the rollercoaster of large-scale system implementation, managed to conquer the chaos, and somehow still want to continue on this journey? Let’s talk!____________________________________________________ We are Laminar Projects! If you’ve already heard about us, you’re probably reading this because you’re tired of the typical, chaotic ways of doing things in construction. But in case you haven’t, we’re a high-end project management consultancy and tech developer with a focus on upgrading the way construction projects are delivered. Improving construction strengthens the very foundation of human civilisation. (Check out our short film about it.)We bring transparency and control to projects through a pragmatic mix of the latest tech, our own processes, and a big dose of common sense. We then take our deep understanding of these projects and we invest heavily into developing the digital solutions that anyone can use to deliver their projects better. (Check out Shape, our construction management tech, to see what we’re doing.) The core of all this is our true secret sauce: our people. We only recruit the very best, both in capability and personality. We’re deeply focused on designing a new type of organisation that’s optimised for the flourishing of the people in the team first and foremost. People who join us develop fast as a whole person in ways they never imagined. (Read more about our vision and missions.) This approach has allowed us to grow from just two people in 2017 to over 220 today. We have a stable, repeat client base across infrastructure and complex building projects in the UK and internationally, and we’re still growing fast. Joining us isn’t just some “job”. It’s a transformative educational experience. We challenge you to be your best self in all aspects of life. There are many diverse and interesting challenges available. It’s up to you to guide yourself into whichever areas you’re most interested – we’ll enable it. (Get to know us better by watching a few more of our videos.) Core values for a good life A life of human flourishing is all about meaningful relationships and challenging yourself to create a positive impact, so our values reflect the four levels of relationships that each of us has: - Grow yourself– your relationship with yourself - Care about people– your relationship with others around you - Execute to greatness– your relationship with your team - Build civilisation– your relationship with humanity and the world We enshrined our values in our vision: We exist so that everyone in our team can flourish in a high-impact community that: - Connects us with meaningful relationships - Inspires us to develop ourselves to become better humans - Empowers us to pursue our own learning adventures By first doing this, we can achieve the highest levels of value for the world. And enable the achievement of our vision through our two missions: - To fully digitalise the construction of human civilisation - To create a new type of organisation that enables human flourishing while delivering a huge positive impact on society____________________________________________________ The Role Purpose of the role You will be enhancing the delivery of the most complex and interesting projects in the world by leading and supporting deployment of specialized project controls systems that help streamline operations and make life easier for the project teams. You’ll be involved in every phase from gathering requirements and identifying business challenges to recommending the best systems, configuring them with industry-leading practices, and driving training and adoption to make a real impact. We work with various systems, but for this role, we are specifically looking for expertise in deploying Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC) and/or Primavera Unifier. Experience with planning in Primavera P6 is a must, and good command of platforms like Oracle Aconex, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Fusion ERP would be a valuable asset. You’ll lead on the technology aspect, but with a strong focus on people and process, so your communication skills need to be excellent. You’ll join a rapidly growing team responsible for sales and implementation of the project controls systems. There will be opportunities to manage people, lead projects, drive system sales, develop internal processes, and take on key business development activities. Adaptability is key. Given our rapid growth, your focus might shift from Oracle systems implementation to planning and project controls when there’s a need. If you're open to that kind of flexibility, this role is for you! Team This role is part of our Project Management Consultancy which focuses on: - Understanding what the real problems of projects are - Implementing the best solutions to those problems - Developing scalable best practices, tools and technology More specifically you will join the Integrated Project Controls Systems (IPCS) team who are industry leaders in improving delivery of complex projects through deployment of the most suitable software on the market. Your top three objectives 1. To make construction projects deliver to near perfection 2. To create scalable and repeatable solutions to common problems 3. To develop yourself and everyone around you Your top five responsibilities 1. Own the implementation plan: Own the system implementation plan and drive software configuration and adoption to achieve desired outcomes. We believe in your ability to assess the situation and commit to what is achievable. 2. Develop impactful solutions: Leverage your planning and project controls expertise to design and configure scalable, optimized and fit-for-purpose solutions on Oracle systems. 3. Manage people and process: While great technical solutions are important, successfully deploying them to a large user base requires more than just a good config. Engaging all relevant stakeholders is key, ensuring they understand that the new processes and tools are designed to make their lives easier. 4. Report and inform: Provide simple actionable reports to stakeholders at all levels that help them deliver their part of the project more efficiently and effectively 5. Develop everyone: Maximise the development of your team personally and professionally and educate our clients to improve as well. (even if you are junior you can help your leader develop too!) Your Capabilities We are looking for a dynamic individual who can leverage their planning and project controls expertise to configure and deploy flagship Oracle systems. While we’ve already got an army of Primavera P6 experts, this role focuses on OPC and Unifier. Don’t worry if you are not an expert in all listed tools, but the more you know, the better! At Laminar, we’re all from the construction world, and we would like you to bring that experience too. Understanding the daily challenges faced by folks delivering projects helps us configure systems that truly make their lives easier - and that’s the goal! You’ll need to enjoy learning and be willing to dive into training and user manuals to find answers. While this is a technical role, it’s equally important that you’re a strong communicator who can keep people engaged and aligned with a shared vision. Sound like you? Keep reading! What matters most to us is your attitude, drive, and people skills. We’re looking for someone who has a knack for configuring Oracle systems and some experience in planning and project controls in the construction industry. You don’t need to be an expert, we’ll provide training and development to help you grow. What’s most important is that you enjoy the work and are eager to learn and develop along the way. As a candidate, you should have: Must-Have (The fundamentals) - Mastery: Experience deploying Oracle Systems in the construction industry, combined with the experience in planning in Primavera P6-Communication: Proficient communicator in written and verbal English, with ability to convey messages with clarity, motivate teams and lead meetings effectively. Kind and empathetic active listener, capable of giving and receiving constructive feedback.-Leadership: Proactively take ownership of tasks, inspire others through thoughtful questions, and challenge the team to think critically and stay on track-Impact: A track record of making projects and organisations better beyond just doing the basics Nice to Have (If you don’t have it now you will be trained after joining) - Mastery: Project management, and data visualization skills. -Communication: The charisma, influence and presence to get construction people to do new things and take the best approach -Leadership: A proven leader/coach/developer of teams or teams of teams -Impact: A track record of implementing scalable and repeatable solutions in projects and organisations that had a significant positive impact Laminar isn’t the place for you if any of the following is true: - You want an easy, chilled-out role without much challenge - You like to be the smartest person in the room - You don’t like continuously receiving honest candid feedback - You prefer to do your own thing rather than work with a team ____________________________________________________Frequently Asked Questions What kinds of projects would I be working on?It’s common for people to be exposed to several projects in their first year with us.
