Underwriting Assistant (Insurance – NOT Entry Level) | Midtown Manhattan | Temp-to-Perm

We are seeking ajunior Underwriting Assistant with 1–2 years of insurance experience to join our growing team in Midtown Manhattan.

This is anentry-level role, butprior exposure to insurance underwriting or policy processing is required. Candidates without insurance experience will not be considered.

Compensation:

• $21–$24/hour during the temporary period (based on experience)
• Conversion to full-time at$60,000 – $70,000 + benefits

Key Responsibilities:

• Support underwriters withnew business submissions, quoting, binding, and policy maintenance
• Enter and maintain data inSalesforce and underwriting systems
• Assist withrating calculations and underwriting tools
• Processpremium transactions and endorsements
• Preparerenewal accounts, including gatheringloss runs and documentation
• Coordinate with brokers and internal teams to support underwriting workflow

Required Qualifications:

• 1–2 years of experience in the insurance industry (underwriting support, policy processing, brokerage, or similar)
• Basic understanding ofinsurance policies, binders, or coverage
• Proficiency inMicrosoft Excel and Word
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred (Nice to Have):

• Exposure tounderwriting or rating processes
• Salesforce experience
• Any experience withcommercial lines or liability policies
