Purpose and role of job:Â
This role helps toidentify and correctissues keeping production equipment and associated machinery from runningefficiently.Â
Internship OutcomesÂ
Improve programming and editing PLC logic skills.Â
Improveknowledge of available tools and resources toassist withtroubleshooting industrial automation equipment.Â
Learn networking skills.Â
Gain exposure to troubleshooting electro-mechanical machinery using real-time software, electrical drawings, and a multi-meter.Â
Improve effective communication skills in a professional environment.Â
Gain experience inhigh speed manufacturing.Â
Gain exposure tocutting edge technology.Â
Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:Â
Observes OSHA and company safetyrules and uses the proper safety equipment at all times. Identifies potentially dangerous electrical hazards and takes immediate corrective action. Â
Work with experiencedtechnicians to diagnose problemsusing: laptop computersinterfaced to PLC’s, electrical schematics,multimeters, oscilloscopes, and anyadditional resources available.Â
Assist with completingPreventativeMaintenance tasks includingbacking up programs, checking electrical connections, andsafety systems checks.Â
Organize equipment documentation from OEMs, FQ produced documents and troubleshooting guides.  Â
Shares knowledge and techniques with team members.Â
Education and experience requirements:Â
High school graduate with Mechatronic (or similar) experience; orCurrently enrolled inanAssociate’s Degree inIndustrial/Manufacturing Automation, Computer Science, or related field.Â
Personal Computer skillsincluding specific controls programming software and basic e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet applications, and project management software.Â
Strong communication skills.Â
Communicates with the maintenanceand productionstaff to understand what isrequired to make the machinesoperate as efficiently as possible while making the best product possible.Â
Communicates with the production staff toidentify problems andpossible causeson the machinery.Â
Strong analytical skills.Â
Identifies machine problems and their potential causes by drawing on past experiences andutilizing critical thinking.Â
Devises and performs tests toidentify the root cause of problems.Â
Analyzes data from equipment/program testing, event logs, operator/co-worker feedback, and historian data toidentify trends and anomalies thatindicate sources of inefficiency.Â
Identifiespossible causes of future downtime anddetermineappropriate actions to take to prevent them.Â
Programming experience with one or moreprogram languages.Â
Wide degree of creativity is encouraged.Â
Canidentifynumerous alternative solutions and choose between them.Â
Initiates new standards and practices that will improve the effectiveness of the machine controls and controls group.Â
Ability to work well with others at any experience level of any team within First Quality.Â
Work Environment:Â
Work in an environment exposed to dust.Â
Work in an environment exposed to marked changes in temperature or humidity.Â
Physical Requirements:Â
Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawl throughout shift.Â
Occasional climbing and reaching into machines.Â
Occasional reaching overhead during shift.Â
Frequent lifting or carrying of 30lbs but occasional lifting/carrying which could include a two person lift of 100 lbs. from floor to waist, waist to shoulder.Â
Constant use of hands.Â
Constant light and firm grasping with hands throughout shift.Â
Continuous housekeeping by organizing work area.Â
Occasional climbing of steps/ladders.Â
Occasional twisting and turning of wrists.Â
