Position Overview

Prep Academy Tutors of Atlanta is looking for exceptional educators who believe that the right instruction, delivered in the right environment, can make a lasting difference in a student’s academic journey.

We are seeking experienced high school teachers, certified educators, and highly qualified tutors to provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to high school students throughout the Atlanta, Georgia area.

Our tutors work directly with students in their homes, creating focused learning environments where students can ask questions, strengthen academic skills, build confidence, and make meaningful progress toward their educational goals.

This role is especially well suited for current or former high school teachers, teacher candidates, education majors, graduate students, and experienced tutors who enjoy the individualized nature of tutoring and want the opportunity to work closely with students outside of a traditional classroom setting.

What You’ll Do

As an Academic Tutor, you will:

• Deliver engaging, one-on-one instruction to high school students in their homes
• Provide support in areas such as Mathematics, English Language Arts, Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, History, and other academic subjects within your expertise
• Support students in courses such as Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and other high school subjects
• Provide instruction and academic support for honors, AP, advanced, and college-preparatory courses where qualified
• Adapt lessons and instructional strategies to each student’s individual learning needs
• Reinforce classroom instruction and strengthen foundational academic skills
• Help students master challenging concepts and develop effective learning strategies
• Assist with homework, organization, study skills, and preparation for assessments
• Support students preparing for standardized tests and other academic assessments where appropriate
• Identify areas of academic difficulty and develop targeted strategies for improvement
• Establish positive, professional relationships with students and their families
• Monitor student progress and communicate meaningful observations and updates
• Encourage students to take ownership of their learning and develop greater academic confidence
• Maintain a professional, supportive, and productive in-home learning environment
• Travel to students’ homes throughout the Atlanta, Georgia area

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for educators who bring strong subject-matter knowledge, teaching ability, and genuine enthusiasm for working with high school students.

Ideal candidates will have:

• A bachelor’s degree or higher, or be currently pursuing a relevant degree
• A valid Georgia teaching license/certificate or equivalent teaching credential, where applicable
• Demonstrated teaching, tutoring, classroom, or instructional experience
• Strong knowledge of at least one high school academic subject
• Experience working with high school students
• The ability to teach and explain challenging academic concepts clearly
• The ability to adapt instruction for different learning styles, abilities, and academic levels
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, professionalism, reliability, and a student-centered approach
• Excellent organization and time-management skills
• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to student homes
• Authorization to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates who have:

• Current or recent experience as a high school teacher
• A current Georgia teaching license or teaching credential
• Experience teaching in a public, private, or charter school
• Experience teaching high school mathematics, English, science, history, or other core academic subjects
• Experience teaching Honors, AP, IB, advanced, or college-preparatory courses
• Experience preparing students for standardized tests such as the SAT or ACT
• Experience providing private tutoring or individualized academic instruction
• Experience supporting students with diverse academic and learning needs
• A master’s degree or higher
• Experience working with college-bound students
• Experience teaching advanced mathematics, sciences, writing, or other specialized subjects

Schedule

Tutors have the flexibility to build a schedule around their existing professional and personal commitments.

Student assignments and tutoring hours are based on family needs, tutor availability, subject expertise, grade-level experience, and geographic location.

Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability may be particularly valuable.

Tutors may be matched with families based on their location, subject expertise, grade-level experience, and availability.

Minimum Requirements

A successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or be currently pursuing a relevant degree and meet at least one of the following criteria:

• Hold a valid Georgia teaching license/certificate or equivalent teaching credential
• Have current or recent experience as a certified high school teacher
• Have at least two years of teaching or tutoring experience with high school students
• Have experience teaching in a public, private, or charter school
• Have experience as a lecturer, course instructor, teaching assistant, or academic tutor at an accredited U.S. college or university
• Be a graduate or undergraduate student in an education-related or subject-specific program with relevant teaching, tutoring, or teaching-assistant experience
