Reports To: Curator, Collection Manager, Senior Keepers, Wildlife Health Center Staff
Schedule: 8:00am – 5:00pm
Position Summary
The Turtle Care Assistant will assist keepers and WHC staff with the daily tasks associated with the care of confiscated turtles/tortoises housed at the Bronx Zoo.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Preparing and distributing diets
- Cleaning and preparing of animal enclosures
- Washing dishes
- Keeping work areas clean
- Basic turtle/tortoise husbandry (soaking, weighing, health assessments, etc.)
Internal Qualification Requirements
Qualifications• High School Diploma (College coursework in related field preferred)
• Interest in reptiles and amphibians. Previous experience caring for reptiles and amphibians preferred.
