Real Estate Attorney

About the role:

Experienced Real Estate Attorney to join Dollar Tree’s Legal Real Estate team supporting all aspects of Dollar Tree’s real estate.  This position will join the team of in-house attorneys supporting Dollar Tree’s continuing growth, with an emphasis on the existing portfolio of 9,000+ retail stores.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

•    Negotiate a high volume of complex lease amendments and related documents;
•    Provide ongoing legal support to Dollar Tree’s in house portfolio management team primarily responsible for managing the existing portfolio of Dollar Tree retail stores in the U.S. and Canada, including ongoing landlord relationships.  Corporate Counsel, Real Estate, will work closely with other members of the Legal Real Estate team, including Dollar Tree’s Lease Administration team, to ensure compliance with lease deadlines and other lease related obligations.

•   Negotiate takings in eminent domain and easement and access agreements with governmental authorities.  
•      Provide legal support for real estate acquisitions and dispositions. 
•    Provide legal support for real estate related disputes and litigation. 

Your Required Skills and Experience:

•    JD from accredited law school required.
•    Member of, or eligible to become a member of the Virginia State Bar
•    6+ years’ experience as a practicing real estate attorney, including real estate leasing experience (in-house or outside counsel).  Retail real estate experience and proficiency in condemnation proceedings and/or title matters a plus.
•    Experience dealing with high volume transactions and leases.

Computer Skills: Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office desktop applications, inclusive of Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.  Exposure to web-based applications including web forms, portals and workflow tools.

Start Rate = $161,000 - $193,500 based on experience plus 25% bonus and equity.
