Facility Engineer

Bosch has been present in Malaysia since 1923, represented by Robert Bosch Sdn Bhd. In Malaysia, Bosch is active in four business sectors: Mobility Solutions, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology. The company has three manufacturing sites and research and development offices in Penang, producing automotive electronics, power tools and steering systems, and soon a fourth plant with a final testing centre for sensors and semiconductors. In 2020, Bosch Malaysia generated consolidated sales of RM 518.4 million (108.1 million euros) and currently employs more than 4,000 associates.

PgP5 Plant is Bosch Group’s newest expansion in Malaysia a semiconductor test site in Batu Kawan Penang. The construction began in May 2021, and first series of production commenced in 2023. With the long-term forecasts for growth of semiconductor component quantities, coupled with the front-end production in Bosch’s Dresden facility in Germany, capacity expansion is required for the back-end production, which is the final testing phase of semiconductors and sensors. PgP5 will primarily focus on the final testing of components manufactured at Bosch Automotive Electronics’ fab in Dresden, Germany. The plant will also house R&D and training facilities.

Job Purpose
Lead the management, reliability, and continuous improvement of facility mechanical systems i.e. LN2 supply, compressed air, process exhaust, vacuum to ensure safe, compliant, and uninterrupted operations in support of manufacturing and business objectives

Key Responsibilities

• Own the performance, reliability, capacity, and uptime of facility mechanical systems, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
• Lead mechanical projects from planning and RFQ development through execution, commissioning, and handover, ensuring quality, cost, and schedule objectives are achieved.
• Ensure compliance with Bosch standards, safety requirements, and local regulatory obligations, including permits and audit requirements.
• Develop and maintain mechanical system standards, SOPs, preventive maintenance strategies, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership, troubleshooting support, and competency development for facility teams and stakeholders.
• Manage contractors, suppliers, consultants, and service providers to ensure safe and effective project and maintenance execution.
• Drive energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost optimization initiatives across facility mechanical systems.
• Oversee spare parts management, capacity planning, lifecycle management, and operational budget forecasting.
• Support manufacturing equipment hook-up activities and facility infrastructure expansion projects.
• Collaborate closely with operations, HSE, quality, and business stakeholders to achieve operational excellence and zero safety incidents.

• Bachelor’s Degree inMechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or other relevant engineering discipline.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in facility engineering, preferably supporting manufacturing or semiconductor facilities.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience inLiquid Nitrogen (LN₂), Compressed Air and Vacuum Systems, including operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Experience infacility improvement projects, preventive maintenance, system performance monitoring and contractor/vendor coordination.
• Strongproblem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
