Project Leader

What you will be doing! 

• Assisting the Project Manager in delivering medium-risk decommissioning projects that achieve schedule, cost, quality, and safety objectives.
• Supporting the definition of project scope, priorities, and responsibilities to ensure successful project execution.
• Leading the day-to-day delivery of project objectives while providing guidance, direction, and performance feedback to project team members.
• Assembling and coordinating project teams to support planning, estimating, and execution activities.
• Planning project activities, budgets, schedules, and resource requirements in collaboration with management and internal stakeholders.
• Securing and coordinating project resources required to meet project deliverables.
• Assisting with managing project budgets, schedules, scope changes, and overall project controls.
• Motivating project team members to achieve quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
• Reviewing project performance, monitoring deliverables, and managing project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Reporting project progress and performance to clients, management, and key stakeholders.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.   
   

What we are looking for: 

• Education 

  • Bachelor (honours) in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing, OR membership in an Engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization, OR an alternative qualification is a certificate from the Project Management Institute (PMI). 

   

• Experience 
  • Minimum 3-5 years of project management experience.
  • Applying core project management disciplines including scope, cost, schedule, quality assurance, communications, human resources, risk, procurement, and integration management.
  • Demonstrated utilization of project management software, tools, and practices to plan, execute, monitor, and control projects.
  • Experience supporting performance management activities, identifying capability gaps, and recommending development opportunities.
  • Experience delivering projects within regulated, industrial, or decommissioning environments.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrating strong project leadership, organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Skills in developing and executing project plans while monitoring progress against established objectives.
  • Ability to manage project risks, priorities, resources, and performance to achieve successful outcomes.

  • Skills in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, procurement, contract administration, and financial processes.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, nuclear codes and standards, environmental regulations, and decommissioning practices.
  • Skills in negotiation, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management.
• Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which hasa minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”  
     

Working Conditions: 

• This position is part of theCRPEG Unionand is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in theCRPEG Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
• Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.

This role is afully onsite role that requires the employee to primarily work at CNL’s Chalk River Laboratory site, with only occasional opportunities to work remotely, if desired by the employee. Located in the heart of theOttawa Valley, our Chalk River site offers a beautiful natural setting withforests, lakes, and wildlife, right at your doorstep.
