What will you be doing! 

• Coordinating daily activities of the water and wastewater team and directing the work of operators.
• Ensuring staff are qualified, prepared, and supported to perform assigned work safely and effectively.
• Scheduling and leading pre-job and post-job briefings.
• Supporting the development of a safe and healthy work environment and upholding all safety standards.
• Assisting with planning, organizing, scheduling, assigning, and reviewing the work of staff crews.
• Providing guidance, feedback, and direction to team members on task execution.
• Reporting progress and providing updates to management as required.
• Supporting training, mentoring, and development of new and less experienced operators.
• Taking action on unsafe work or behaviours and participating in incident investigations.
• Performing operational duties aligned with the Water Wastewater Operator role.
• Supporting record keeping, compliance activities, and reporting requirements.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.   
   

What we are looking for:

• Education
  • Certification and demonstrated experience in water and wastewater system operations
• Experience
  • Demonstrated a minimum of 5 years of experience in water and wastewater operations
  • Demonstrated experience supporting team coordination, operations, and troubleshooting
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of operational practices, safety requirements, and maintenance activities
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated attention to safety, accuracy, and reliability in daily work
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in behaviours and performance
  • Demonstrated alignment with organizational values and code of conduct
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such asGuidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality (GCDWQ), Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Drinking Water Quality Management Standard (DWQMS), and Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations (WSER).

• Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which hasa minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”   OR
  • Level 2 Secret requires a minimum of 7 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.” 
     

Working Conditions: 

• This position is part of theIUOE Unionand is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in theIUOE Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
• Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.
