Overview
SC Johnson is seeking a Transportation Planner for a fully remote contract role based in the Wisconsin/Illinois area through October 22, 2027. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and monitoring transportation requirements for raw materials, components, and finished goods across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The position involves daily collaboration with internal teams (Supply Chain, Customer Service, Planning, Logistics) and external transportation carriers to proactively manage freight activities and ensure high service levels at competitive costs.Job Specifications
- Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain–oriented disciplines preferred.
- Top Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Microsoft Office/365 proficiency (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- 0–2 years of experience in a customer service role.
- Ability to interface with multiple levels of an organization both internally and externally.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail while multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred Attributes & Technology:
- Prior experience in transportation (preferred, not required).
- Experience with Retail Link or TMS e2open (ideal).
- Primary Accountabilities:
- Serve as the transportation lead for specific shipping points to meet business operational needs.
- Tender, track, and report shipments utilizing a Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Monitor carrier performance and manage transportation-related issues with customers.
- Process and track shipments for expedites, out-of-territory loads, trans-ships, and returns.
- Obtain rates from carriers for new lanes and set up lanes for load tendering.
