This Training Lead role sits within the People workstream of a major energy infrastructure organization undergoing a large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation. Reporting to the Director of People for the program, the role owns the full training lifecycle: strategy, curriculum design, delivery planning, logistics, and long-term sustainment. It also carries shared accountability for Role-to-Position Mapping, connecting learner audiences to course assignments, security access readiness, and go-live deployment.
The ideal candidate brings significant experience leading training strategy and instructional design on complex ERP or enterprise transformation programs. They are equally comfortable shaping governance and roadmaps at the strategic level as they are managing delivery logistics and tracking readiness metrics at the operational level. Strong stakeholder instincts, clear communication, and a track record of making change stick are essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Define and maintain the end-to-end training strategy, roadmap, integrated training plan, and governance framework across all program phases from Design through Sustainment.
2. Partner with the Change Management Lead and People Director to align training with stakeholder engagement, communications, readiness, and adoption planning.
3. Design the curriculum architecture, role-based learning paths, course catalogues, and audience-to-course mapping in partnership with the System Integrator Training Lead.
4. Plan and manage training delivery across business areas, geographies, and release groups, including scheduling, enrollment, completion tracking, and exception management.
5. Co-develop the People workstream strategy for Role-to-Position Mapping and translate those outputs into learner audiences, course assignments, training schedules, and go-live readiness reporting.
6. Monitor training progress, learner feedback, knowledge checks, and readiness metrics; identify gaps and recommend targeted interventions.
7. Define the learning sustainment model including governance, maintenance cadence, onboarding integration, and continuous improvement of materials post go-live.
8. Provide oversight to an on-site training analyst and coordinate effectively with the System Integrator's offshore training development team.
Required Skills & Experience
• 10 or more years of experience leading training strategy, instructional design, learning deployment, and capability enablement for large-scale ERP, technology, or business transformation programs
• Demonstrated experience with role-based training, learning needs analysis, curriculum design, adult learning principles, training logistics, learning measurement, and sustainment planning
• Proven ability to translate complex process, system, security, and organizational changes into practical learning for diverse audiences including field, operations, corporate, and power-user communities
• Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills with the ability to influence across program teams, business leaders, SMEs, vendors, and support organizations
• Experience coordinating training activities with change management, communications, readiness, testing, deployment, and hyper care workstreams
• Clear, concise communicator with strong business judgment and the ability to operate in a complex, fast-paced transformation environment
• Must have authorization to work in Canada
• Native or bilingual English proficiency
Preferred Skills
• Experience working with SAP business processes, SAP S/4HANA training environments, LMS platforms, digital adoption platforms, simulations, and blended learning methods
• Experience with role mapping, security access readiness, personas, business roles, or learner audience segmentation
• Familiarity with train-the-trainer programs, in-app guidance tools, and practice lab coordination
