TheTraining Facilitator assists in the planning and implementation of introductory and entry-level training for all Mercy Ships staff and crew. Training must support Mercy Ships’ mission, vision and core values in a diverse multi-cultural, multi-generational environment.
**Annual Compensation range for this position is $51,000-$53,000
**Compensation range listed is for U.S. hires only. Actual compensation may vary dependent upon location of hire.
IMPORTANT: Candidates who have previously served with Mercy Ships, whether as crew, staff, or volunteers are strongly preferred. Firsthand experience with our mission, culture, and commitment to serving those in need provides a meaningful foundation for success in this role and continued impact across the organization.
This is a full time, onsite position at our office in Lindale, Texas that requires domestic and/or internation travel 25% of the year. Longer working hours required during Gateway program – including evenings and weekends.
How You’ll Contribute:
- Assist in preparation for each On Boarding program.
- Facilitate delivery of effective training for all Mercy Ships locations, including in-person classroom sessions, online sessions, etc.
- Design or adapt curricula for a multi-cultural audience, using adult learning principles. Seek regular feedback on the effectiveness of training programs and make adjustments as needed.
- Collaborate with Staff Development & other teams to ensure that entry-level training is aligned with broader learning strategies to meet the needs of new Mercy Ships staff.
- Travel to other Mercy Ships locations to facilitate and coordinate training programs.
- Lead small groups, pray for, support and mentor new staff individually.
- Care for On Boarding participants residing on the ISC campus or in any residential environment (eg, field location ashore).
- Promote and uphold the Mercy Ships Core Values, Code of Conduct, and all other official policies and procedures.
- Public speaking is required
- Longer working hour during Gateway/On Boarding program- including evenings and weekends
- Understand and apply servant leadership, work collaboratively with integrity and demonstrate accountability.

Ideal Candidate:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Cross-cultural communication skills and ability to adapt training to a multi-cultural, multi-generational environment.
- Able to relate well to other staff members and participants – including those from other cultural and generational backgrounds.
- Good organizational skills and able to work independently in a flexible setting.
- Good problem-solving skills (including conflict resolution skills).
- Able to think strategically in design and implementation of programs.
- Basic computer skills (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or higher.
- Experience in adult education, curriculum development, pastoral care or human resources desirable.
- Prior experience in Mercy Ships or cross-cultural missions preferred.
- Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
