About The Job:

  • The Corporate Trainer is responsible for delivering comprehensive onboarding and domain-specific training to new joiners within the U.S. mortgage operations division.
  • The role focuses on imparting knowledge related to company policies, compliance frameworks, and foundational mortgage concepts across the loan lifecycle, including origination, underwriting, closing, servicing, escrow, taxes, post-closing, and cashiering.
  • The trainer also oversees trainee assessments, provides performance feedback, and ensures successful transition to process-specific training and production.

Essential Job Functions:
 1. New Hire Onboarding

  • Conduct structured induction training for new employees, covering:
    • Company Overview, Core Values, HR Policies, Code of Conduct, IT Security Guidelines, and POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Policy.
    • Completion and compliance with all mandatory onboarding modules and associated documentation requirements.

2. Domain Training – U.S. Mortgage Lifecycle

  • Deliver foundational training on the U.S. mortgage industry structure, key stakeholders, and the end-to-end loan lifecycle.
  • Provide an overview of major functional areas, including:
    • Origination and Pre-Closing (application, disclosures, conditions, pre-funding checks)
    • Underwriting (credit, capacity, collateral, guidelines, decisioning)
    • Closing and Title (title search, commitments, closing coordination, document execution)
    • Servicing (billing, escrow, taxes, insurance, payoffs, disbursements)
    • Post-Closing (file review, indexing, investor/collateral delivery, audit readiness)
    • Cashiering and Payments (wires, ACH, reconveyance, lien releases, reconciliation)

3. Specialized Process Training

  • Facilitate detailed training sessions on selected processes as per business needs, such as:
    • Underwriting workflows, exceptions, and quality standards
    • Escrow analysis, tax billing, insurance tracking, and force-placed insurance basics
    • Billing cycles, payment posting, fees, and payoff/reinstatement quotes
    • Post-closing defects, corrections, and buyback prevention
    • Cashiering controls, fraud prevention, and dual-control processes
  • Explain each function’s role, key documents, systems, and quality/compliance expectations.

4. Assessments and Trainee Evaluation

  • Design and conduct periodic assessments (quizzes, role plays, case-based tests, system simulations) to evaluate knowledge and application.
  • Provide timely, structured feedback to trainees, while maintaining attendance logs and engagement records throughout the training cycle.
  • Prepare individualized scorecards summarizing:
    • Test performance, communication skills, participation levels, system proficiency, and overall readiness for transition to operations.

5. Coordination with Operations

  • Collaborate with Operations Team Leads and Managers to ensure a smooth trainee handoff to production teams.
  • Share detailed training performance reports and recommendations for each cohort and individual.
  • Participate in calibration discussions to ensure training outcomes align with process expectations, quality metrics, and compliance standards.

6. Content Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Regularly update training decks, job aids, SOPs, and reference documents based on policy changes, process updates, system enhancements, or regulatory changes.
  • Incorporate feedback from operations, QA, compliance, and trainees to enhance training delivery and curriculum effectiveness.
  • Maintain organized records of:
    • Training materials, attendance sheets, feedback forms, assessments, and version control documents.

Qualifications:
Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Graduate in any discipline; preference for candidates with a U.S. Mortgage background.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a Trainer or Subject Matter Expert (SME) in U.S. Mortgage processes across one or more functions (e.g., underwriting, servicing, title, post-closing, escrow/tax, cashiering).
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. mortgage lifecycle, key documents, and operational workflows.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); experience with SharePoint or similar collaboration tools.
  • Ability to assess, coach, and guide trainees effectively, with a focus on performance improvement.

Preferred Attributes

  • Organized and detail-oriented with a structured, repeatable training approach.
  • Proactive in identifying trainee learning needs and performance gaps, and recommending targeted interventions.
  • Comfortable managing both virtual and in-person training environments.
  • Experience preparing clear, concise reports and documentation for leadership review.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Training, Operations, Compliance, and Quality functions.
