Job Description:
The role combines ownership and operation of the electronics laboratory with prototype development, electronics assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and support for laboratory and field validation activities.
The ideal candidate is highly technical, practical, independent, and comfortable working closely with engineers in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain the electronics R&D laboratory, including equipment, tools, materials, and general lab readiness.
- Build and modify prototypes and development systems.
- Assemble and troubleshoot electrical harnesses, cables, connectors, and electronic assemblies.
- Perform professional soldering, rework, and modification of electronic boards and components.
- Support PCB assembly, bring-up, debugging, and troubleshooting.
- Take responsibility for development test equipment and testers, including setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Set up and execute laboratory tests for systems and components, including:PV panelsBatteriesMotors and actuatorsElectronic and electrical systems
- Support RF testing, measurements, and troubleshooting.
- Prepare equipment and test setups for field trials.
- Participate in and operate field experiments and validation activities.
- Collect and document test results and support engineers in failure analysis and troubleshooting.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and effective laboratory environment.
Qualifications
- At least5 years of hands-on experience in electronics laboratories, R&D environments, testing, prototype development, or similar technical roles.
- Strong hands-on electronics and electrical skills.
- Proven experience with soldering, wiring, harness assembly, electronic boards, and prototype construction.
- Experience using laboratory test and measurement equipment.
- Experience with electrical and electronic troubleshooting.
- Ability to independently build test setups and execute test procedures.
- Willingness and ability to support field testing and work outside the laboratory when required.
- Strong technical aptitude, practical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Electronics Technician / Practical Engineer certification or other relevant technical education –an advantage.
- Experience with RF testing and measurement equipment.
- Experience with batteries, motors, PV systems, or robotic systems.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary R&D teams involving electrical, mechanical, firmware, and systems engineering.
