Job Purpose
The Senior Infrastructure Officer is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, securing, and supporting the company’s ICT infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
The role ensures that infrastructure systems, cloud platforms, network services, business applications, security solutions, endpoints, and other core IT services operate securely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
The Senior Infrastructure Officer provides senior-level technical support to internal users, third parties, and clients, takes ownership of complex infrastructure issues, and contributes to the design and delivery of infrastructure projects. The role is expected to proactively identify risks, improve resilience, automate operational processes, and drive continuous improvement across the organization’s IT environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of IT Infrastructure, other members of the IT team, internal departments, external service providers, and technology partners to ensure reliable and secure delivery of IT services.
This role requires presence at our Limassol, Cyprus office, or at our Piraeus, Greece office.Remote-only candidates will not be considered.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Infrastructure Operations
- Maintain, administer, and support the company’s IT infrastructure across multiple office locations, data centres, and cloud environments.
- Ensure proactive measures are implemented to prevent or mitigate service disruptions and infrastructure-related risks.
- Monitor infrastructure availability, capacity, performance, and security to maintain high levels of service availability.
- Install, upgrade, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot on-premises, hybrid, and cloud-based systems and services.
- Manage servers, virtual machines, storage, operating systems, and associated infrastructure components.
- Manage infrastructure resources, including system configurations, software deployment, patching, antivirus and endpoint protection, and IT assets.
- Perform regular health checks and proactively identify performance, capacity, security, and availability concerns.
- Participate in planned maintenance, system upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure lifecycle activities.
Microsoft 365 & Identity
- Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, and related services.
- Manage user identities, groups, permissions, roles, licensing, and access controls.
- Administer and support Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Conditional Access, Single Sign-On (SSO), and other identity and access-management controls.
- Support Microsoft 365 security configurations and investigate authentication, access, email-delivery, and service-related issues.
- Support user onboarding, offboarding, and access-management processes in coordination with HR and other departments.
- Conduct and support periodic access and permission reviews.
Windows & Linux Infrastructure
- Administer Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, File Services, and related infrastructure services.
- Support and maintain Linux-based servers and applications.
- Manage system updates, security patches, configuration changes, and operating-system lifecycle activities.
- Troubleshoot operating-system, application, performance, and connectivity issues.
- Support virtualization platforms and associated infrastructure.
Network Infrastructure
- Administer and support LAN, WAN, VLAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, firewall, switching, and routing infrastructure.
- Maintain secure connectivity between company offices, cloud environments, remote users, and third-party services.
- Configure and troubleshoot firewall policies, VPN connections, network segmentation, and secure remote-access solutions.
- Monitor network availability and performance and investigate connectivity and security incidents.
- Support internet connectivity, redundancy, and failover solutions across company locations.
- Work with ISPs, vendors, and service providers to troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues.
- Maintain accurate network documentation and infrastructure diagrams.
Cloud Infrastructure
- Administer and support infrastructure hosted within public cloud environments, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and other cloud platforms used by the organization.
- Manage cloud servers, virtual machines, storage, networking, security groups, permissions, and related infrastructure services.
- Monitor cloud resources for availability, performance, security, capacity, and cost efficiency.
- Assist with cloud migrations, infrastructure modernization, and service-improvement projects.
- Apply secure access and least-privilege principles to cloud infrastructure.
- Support backup, logging, monitoring, and security services within cloud environments.
Endpoint Management
- Administer endpoint and device-management platforms for corporate workstations, laptops, mobile devices, and other managed endpoints.
- Manage device configuration, software deployment, security policies, operating-system updates, and patching.
- Monitor endpoint compliance, health, security status, and software inventory.
- Administer Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) and remote-support platforms.
- Investigate and resolve escalated endpoint issues that require senior infrastructure-level support.
- Support implementation and improvement of endpoint security and device-management policies.
Backup, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
- Manage and monitor backup solutions for servers, cloud infrastructure, applications, and other critical systems.
- Review backup jobs and investigate and resolve backup failures.
- Perform and support restoration testing to verify the integrity and recoverability of company data.
- Support disaster-recovery and business-continuity planning and testing.
- Maintain appropriate documentation for backup and recovery procedures.
- Assist in ensuring critical infrastructure and services can be recovered within agreed business requirements.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls, including firewalls, endpoint security, encryption, access controls, monitoring, secure configuration, and backup solutions.
- Support vulnerability identification, assessment, remediation, and infrastructure hardening activities.
- Ensure operating systems, infrastructure components, and applications are appropriately patched and maintained.
- Support implementation and enforcement of least-privilege access principles.
- Assist with security incident investigation, containment, remediation, and post-incident reviews.
- Support periodic reviews of privileged accounts, administrative access, firewall rules, and other infrastructure security controls.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of information-security policies and procedures.
- Contribute to ISO 27001 and other compliance activities by maintaining technical controls, documentation, evidence, and records required for internal and external audits.
- Ensure infrastructure changes are implemented in accordance with established security and change-management procedures.
Incident & Problem Management
- Take ownership of escalated infrastructure incidents and service requests from identification through resolution.
- Log, track, investigate, escalate, and resolve incidents while ensuring relevant stakeholders are kept informed.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues across systems, networks, cloud platforms, endpoints, and applications.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring or significant incidents.
- Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce recurrence.
- Work with vendors and third-party support providers where escalation is required.
- Participate in critical incident response when required.
Infrastructure Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Function as a technical lead or senior technical resource on infrastructure-related projects.
- Assist with solution design, technical planning, implementation, testing, documentation, and handover.
- Deliver secure, scalable, reliable, cost-effective, and fit-for-purpose infrastructure solutions.
- Research and evaluate technologies that could improve security, performance, reliability, automation, or operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive infrastructure and administrative tasks.
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation where appropriate.
- Support infrastructure migrations, office deployments, cloud projects, security initiatives, and technology refresh programmes.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into appropriate technical solutions.
- Coordinate with external vendors, managed service providers, telecommunications providers, and technology partners when required.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Maintain accurate infrastructure records, configurations, diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and technical documentation.
- Maintain and contribute to the IT infrastructure knowledge base.
- Ensure changes to systems and infrastructure are appropriately documented.
- Document troubleshooting procedures and resolutions for recurring issues.
- Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other members of the IT team.
- Assist in developing technical standards, procedures, and operational best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of7 years of relevant professional experience in systems, network, cloud, or infrastructure administration.
- Demonstrable experience supporting business-critical IT infrastructure within a professional environment.
- Experience supporting infrastructure across multiple locations and cloud environments would be considered an advantage.
- Experience taking ownership of complex technical issues and infrastructure projects.
- Must be fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- Relevant Microsoft, Fortinet, AWS, Linux, networking, or cybersecurity certifications would be considered an advantage.
Technical Expertise
The successful candidate should have strong experience across a broad range of infrastructure technologies, including:
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, File Services, and related technologies.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, identity management, MFA, Conditional Access, and security controls.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls, and network security.
- Experience with enterprise firewall and networking technologies. Experience with Fortinet technologies such as FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiAnalyzer would be considered a strong advantage.
- Experience with cloud IaaS/PaaS environments such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and DigitalOcean.
- Good working knowledge of Linux environments, including Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS, or equivalent distributions.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, or equivalent platforms.
- Experience with scripting and automation technologies such as PowerShell, Python, Ansible, or equivalent.
- Experience with endpoint and device-management platforms such as Microsoft Intune, JAMF, or other MDM solutions.
- Experience with Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) platforms such as NinjaOne or equivalent.
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring and alerting platforms such as Zabbix or equivalent.
- Experience with backup, restoration, and disaster-recovery technologies.
- Experience with IT Service Management and Service Desk platforms such as Freshservice, Jira Service Management, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with PBX and unified communications platforms such as 3CX and Asterisk.
- Familiarity with open-source platforms such as ownCloud and FreePBX would be considered an advantage.
- Good understanding of cybersecurity principles, including least privilege, identity protection, endpoint security, network segmentation, vulnerability management, secure remote access, encryption, and infrastructure hardening.
- Awareness of information-security standards such as ISO 27001.
- Understanding of IT service-management practices and frameworks such as ITIL.
