Lead Engineer– Application Engineering

Are you passionate about designing safety-critical automotive systems that save lives? Join our Engineering team and play a key role in the design and development of Steering Wheel and Airbag systems for passenger vehicles, SUVs, and MUVs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of Steering Wheel and Airbag mechanisms.

• Create and release 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using CATIA V5.

• Prepare and manage engineering deliverables including BOM, DFMEA, DFM/DFA, GD&T, Tolerance Stack-up Analysis, and DVP.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Project Management, Purchasing, Quality, Testing, Manufacturing, and Suppliers.

• Support prototype builds, product validation, and vehicle trials.

• Conduct root cause analysis and problem-solving using structured methodologies such as 8D/G8D.

• Interface with customers and suppliers for technical discussions, trials, and issue resolution.

• Represent engineering activities within global teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in the design and development of automotive safety systems, particularly Steering Wheels, Airbags, or similar mechanisms.

• Expertise in sheet metal and plastic component design and development.

• Hands-on experience with CATIA V5.

• Knowledge of PLM tools, preferably Enovia.

• Experience in DFMEA, GD&T, Tolerance Stack-up Analysis, DFM/DFA, and Design Reviews.

• Understanding of product testing, validation, and engineering change management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering.

• 8-10 years of experience for Engineering Graduates.

• 10-12 years of experience for Diploma holders.

• Prior experience in a Tier-1 automotive supplier environment is highly preferred.
