Training SUMMARY: Provide administrative assistance that supports the day-to-day operations at Northumberland Department of Social Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Answer each incoming telephone call in a polite and courteous manner and assist the customer in meeting their request.
- Support confidentiality efforts by safeguarding all agency and client information.
- Pick up/drop-off mail and distribute all mail following established protocol.
- Provide general program information and customer service to clients through various forms of communication (in-person, email, telephone, etc.).
- Enter data management platforms as requested.
- All other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Rely on extensive on-the-job training and experience to accomplish the work
Working knowledge of:
- Basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office and other agency programs or the ability to sufficiently learn the platforms.
- Multi-line telephones, copiers, scanners, and fax machines or the ability to learn.
- Community resources and human service operations but will provide extensive training for the chosen applicant.
Proficient strong attention to detail and record keeping ability
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain trusting professional relationships with Social Services staff, community partners, clients and other third parties.
Ability to follow instructions and prioritize duties as needed
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and over virtual platforms and telecommunication devices
Excellent written communication skills (letters, memos, reports, emails, text messages, etc.)
Decision making: Must be able to work independently with frequent collaboration and reporting to the lead front employee.
Able to adapt to a collaborative work culture.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Minimum physical requirements (ability to lift 25 lbs., walking, climbing stairs).
Qualifications
Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must have Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel and Power Point)
