Job Title: Thin Film Engineer (Magnetron Sputtering Expert)

Job Summary:

Blue Harlan is the recruitment partner to a start-up company based out of FL (in year 3) and setting up a small facility in Loveland, CO. ThisThin Film Engineer with expertise inmagnetron sputtering will focus on the development, optimization, and characterization of thin-film deposition processes for applications in [industry-specific applications, e.g., semiconductors, optics, or protective coatings]. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with sputtering systems, process development, and material characterization techniques.

This is an opportunity to be involved in the R&D phase before production begins. This technology is new, it's GREEN and impactful!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates coating equipment for the production and development of energetic Thin Film coatings

  • Performs chamber and materials preparation, substrate loading, and coating startup and finish

  • Monitors coating and chamber parameters to ensure the process is under control

  • Optimize parameters to ensure coating quality, uniformity, and adhesion

  • Perform various analysis of coated materials

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree in Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or any other related subject that had a strong focus on glow discharge processes

  • 5 years of experience working directly with vacuum coaters – large drum coater preferred

  • Extensive magnetron sputtering experience

  • Attention to detail: Excellent focus and the ability to follow precise procedures.

  • Problem-solving skills: The ability to troubleshoot equipment or process issues.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Basic computer proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel

  • US Citizenship

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Masters degree in Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related subject

  • Familiarity with thermites and pyrotechnics
