Job Description
BAE Systems is looking for a Test Engineer who will also assume the Supervisor responsibility for the Test Technician team. This position will report onsite for their San Diego, CA facility in support of production, business and other processes in a team-based manufacturing environment. The selected candidate will spend majority of their time resolving test-related issues, troubleshooting and providing technical support. Up to 25% of their time will be spent supervising the Electronic Test Technician team for planning, organizing, implementing, leading, and managing activities.As a Test Engineer, you will:
- Perform triage and troubleshooting activities on electronic assemblies, subassemblies, looking at failed circuits, isolating the fault down to a component level, and then dispositioning the repair procedures.
- Assist in the investigation of root causes of product performance and failures, executing test plans and priorities on the test floor and detailed test planning and associated test implementation activities.
- Support engineering root cause investigations to address product performance issues.
- Meeting the required safety, quality, delivery and cost targets for repair and overhaul activities.
- Develop and optimize electronic assembly processes, implementing tooling, fixtures and equipment to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety
- Collaborate with team in identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and quality issues with cross-functional teams
- Working with Quality Engineering, implement and sustain in-process and final quality control processes/measures and shop floor data collection
- Provide technical support across Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management for new and existing programs
- Must also be able to comply with all requirements including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy.
- Will provide motivation, coaching, and leadership to team members to ensure the accomplishment of business objectives including meeting safety, quality, delivery, cost and company objectives.
- Maintain an effective and efficient organization while effectively communicating responsibilities and objectives to employees.
- Collaborate effectively with internal customers and functional partners for work critical to the business.
- Will have experience utilizing Lean concepts to meet or exceed business and customer requirements.

- The ability to work flexible hours and days to meet objectives is highly desirable.
Required Skills and Education
- Associate’s degree in electrical engineering technology (EET), Electrical Engineering (EE), or related experience to the position
- Experience leading, tasking and motivating a team
- Experience managing project resources including personnel, budget, and materials
- Experience using computers, Windows OS, MS Word, MS Excel, and SharePoint databases
- Ability to read and follow processes, engineering drawings, change orders, and work instructions
- Experience in Electronic Assembly & Test operations with consistent pattern of delivering superior performance
- Experience in low volume & high complexity, manufacturing environment, preferably in the electronics field
- Basic understanding of electronics component troubleshooting and instrument familiarity (analog and/or digital)
- Understanding in the use of analog and/or digital electronics and embedded systems
- Capable of using standard electrical lab and test equipment
- General understanding of electronics manufacturing process
- Ability to interpret technical specifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills and Education
- Bachelor's degree in technical field and at least 4 years of related experience OR Associate degree in technical field and at least 7 years of related experience OR High school diploma and at least 11 years of related experience
- Experience using advanced test and analysis instrumentation (e.g. spectrum, bus, and logic analyzers, etc.)
- Familiarity with the manufacturing and test of high reliability electronic assemblies and their avionics applications
- Experience working in a high-paced repair station environment
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and organize multiple activities in a team environment
- Hands-on floor support experience, working with factory employees
- Experience in root cause/corrective action- preventive action
- Knowledge of Engineering concepts, practices, drawing standards, procedures, and processes
