What You'll Do
The Assistant General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and profitability of the dealership. This role provides strategic direction across Sales, Fixed Operations, Finance, Parts, and Administration while fostering a high-performance culture focused on operational excellence, customer satisfaction, employee development, and sustainable growth. The Assistant General Manager is accountable for achieving financial objectives, maintaining OEM standards, and delivering an exceptional customer experience that drives long-term loyalty. This position reports into a Multi-Store General Manager.
Lead all dealership operations to achieve revenue, profitability, customer satisfaction, and market share objectives.
Develop and execute business plans that align with organizational and OEM goals.
Build, coach, and hold accountable department leaders to maximize team performance and operational efficiency.
Analyze financial statements, key performance indicators, and market trends to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, OEM requirements, regulatory standards, and legal obligations.
Champion a customer-first culture focused on earning customers for life through exceptional sales and service experiences.
Foster employee engagement, retention, succession planning, and leadership development across the dealership.
Drive collaboration between variable and fixed operations to optimize performance and customer retention.
Manage expense controls, inventory strategies, and operational processes to improve profitability and efficiency.
Represent the dealership within the local community and support initiatives that strengthen the dealership's reputation and brand presence.
All other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring
7+ years of progressive automotive retail leadership experience, including multi-department management responsibility.
Proven success leading dealership operations and achieving financial, operational, and customer satisfaction goals.
Strong knowledge of dealership financial statements, forecasting, budgeting, and performance management.
Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams and develop future leaders.
Experience managing OEM relationships and maintaining franchise standards.
Exceptional leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong commitment to customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
Acceptable driving record and a valid driver's license in your state of residence.
Total Rewards
Starting at: $200,000.00/ per year
This is a performance driven position, eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives as part of total variable compensation, which includes a base/draw/hourly offset and the opportunity to earn commission and bonus.
Actual pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and physical location. Final compensation will be established through the interview process in accordance with applicable pay equity and transparency laws.
